Correct me if I'm hearing it wrong, but from what I heard, yall are separating "believer" and "disciple", right? Meaning, one could become a believer without being a disciple, but it takes more to be a disciple. Is that correct? IF that is what yall mean, the Bible knows no believer who isn't a disciple. Read John Macarthur's "Gospel According to Jesus". Matthew 28:19- He didn't say go and make believers, although that is what He is meaning. "Go and make disciples," One could say- well, He means make them believers and then grow them into disciples. But if He was talking about the end result, then He would have said, "make completely sanctified believers". The definition of being a believer/disciple of Christ: Luke 9:23. That is the call to follow Christ. Again, maybe I misheard/misinterpreted. I do agree believers/disciples of Christ should read their Bibles, do good works, etc, but there is nothing that distinguishes a disciple of Christ from a believer in Christ

Just want to add, that in James chapter 1.. James 1: 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. Then in chapter 2.. James 2:12–13. 12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. 13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. These ppl were sinning, being partial in themselves, respecters of persons (the rich), judges of evil thoughts, despising the poor, convinced (convicted, guilty) of the Law as transgressors. Ie: they weren't merciful. In vs 18... James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works:.. This is an interlocutor. It's as if one of these ppl might argue thusly. But based on the list of >bad works< already stated, IT IS AN ABSURD ARGUMENT. He knew that if you have faith then there >should be< corresponding action, but in this case there wasn't. So much for the same tired argument when this topic comes up, that, "If you have faith you will have works." >This is obviously true< But not really the point. When we argue this way we completely miss what James is saying This is a case where someone can be saved, yet not only not having good works, they in fact are doing the opposite. We all know Christians who claim faith in Christ, yet somehow have zero self awareness. They do all sorts of bad things yet are blissfully unaware of their own sin, while saying all the right things. James is saying, "wake up! Hold yourselves to >the standard< of the Law of Liberty and don't use your liberty as a cloke for your carnality." We are to look into the Law of Liberty and >continue therein<, not forgetting what hear, but being a doer of the work. What works? 1 Timothy 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity (agape) out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned 2 Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 1 Peter 1: 22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: One of the problems with the church today is that it is shallow concerning the Word of God. We want instant answers. We have "one verse" proof text theology. James is against this. He wants his audience to do what my pastor always said. "Get into the Word until the Word gets into you." So the statement that a christian should have Good work's is true. But in this chapter we find this is not always the case. If we want to go further, then I think the application is that we all need to spend more time in the Word. Let our whole end and aim be to draw closer to Him, by studying His Word, so that we can do the works of God out of a pure heart. -End

Please pray for me… I recently accepted Jesus. However my faith has hit a brick wall to the point I doubt daily. All I can think about is what a huge statement it is to say that others outside our religion will go to hell. It’s made relationships hard because all I can think about when someone opens their mouth is you could be going to hell. How are Christians not freaking out about this?! I don’t know anymore if my faith is real because how can someone claim to be a Christian like so many do and not be paranoid about everyone and everything. What a statement to say you believe in hell but remain calm. I don’t know.

It depends on what your understanding of repentance is. If its turn from all sin straight away then that dosnt seem posible. But if its turn from the sin of unbelief then this is my understanding. After justification comes sanctification. Maybe repentance is an on going journey. It seems like it is in my walk with CHRIST.

Repent means change your mind, not stop sinning. Jack Hibbs sounds like a Calvinist. There's no mention of Repent in acts 16,30. It reads Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they, (Paul and Silas) said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. *No mention of repentance* When the Eunich was talking to Philip about Isaiah, he asked what hinders me to be baptised? And Philip said, If you believe with all your heart you may. And the Eunich said. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God...and he baptised him. *No mention of repentance.*

Mr hibbs is misquoting Acts 2:38. Mr hibbs is saying repent and believe but the text says repent and be baptized. And Mr hibbs is saying that this is the gospel and that is false because the gospel is Jesus Life ministry death burial Resurrection for the forgiveness of our sins. That is the gospel. Now what Mr hibbs was saying is the response to the gospel and the response to the gospel and the gospel are not the same thing but they are related.

Salvation is believing Jesus is our LORD and Savior after hearing the Gospel, that is what saves us personal true repentance comes after between you and God. Believing-in what Jesus did for us is repentance. Asking for forgiveness of sins is granted by GOD alone because He knows our freewill heart which is hope in the Savior. Romans 10:9-10 💝 "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" Acts 16:30-31💝 "And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Ephesians 1:13-14 🕊 "In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory"

Thank you. Yes, there’s a difference between salvation and discipleship. We are saved and justified purely based on our faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone. Saved by believing in the finished work of Jesus on that cross and not in our own righteousness. Once we are saved, we OUGHT to walk with God and live by the Spirit and not the flesh. That is us growing in discipleship, but it has nothing to do with our initial salvation. Although, we will continue to mess up and we still sin everyday. As we grow in our relationship and maturity with Christ, we sin less and less, but we are not perfect and will continue to sin so long as we live. We are no longer condemned once under Christ. We are not saved by the law nor are we kept saved by the law. There is nothing you can do to lose your salvation once you are truly saved. This is the easy yoke and light burden and freedom found in Christ. Let us be thankful and overjoyed that Jesus did what we could never do. Let us honor him with our words and actions. :)

Acts 2:38 actually says, "Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Why do you have to modify the Scriptures to get someone saved? Especially when you are saying, "It's right there in the Scriptures." What's wrong with simply doing what the Bible says to do to be saved?
