F1 drivers are physical Athletes with extreme reflexes and precision, like Pilots in Fighter Jets. Also a reason why they are called Pilots, not Drivers. But the real Drivers were in the Ralley Group B days. High speeds, Spectators standing on the Roads, trying not to hit them while racing the Time, Roads that changed Conditions in minutes based on Weather or placement when another Car already went through the Mud or Sand.

F1 today isn't the technological heaven it used to be. There are so many regulations today that it stifles innovation. As an example, look at Mercedes with D.A.S. (Dual Axis Steering) and how it was a legal innovation, but rather than encourage its adoption, the F.I.A. eventually banned its use to stop any team from having an unfair advantage. There are loads of examples of stuff like this. Plus, the engines today don't sound as good as the v10 era. I still enjoy F1, but the days of it being a bed of insane technological innovation have passed. F1 is a couple of steps away from turning into stock car racing due to regulations.

Sneaky how you kept sliding bitdefender mentions into the script. I think I'd prefer you kept the advertising separate from the reporting. Doing it the way you did here actually sounds like your stretching pretty hard to find ways to make bitdefender sound good which reduces credibility. Of everything.

The halo is unecessary. They have the roll hoop (70's/80's), the headrest (1995) and the survival cell (1990's) which are more than enough to keep the drivers safe. The helmets are stronger than ever, Schubert's helmet can even take a bullet shot. The halo creates a problem instead of solving one. Imagine if Grosjean's crash ended with him upside down and under fire and flames. He would have a much much smaller chance of getting out on his own than he had in his real crash.Β It was already nearly impossible for him to get out of the car in his real crash, having to burn his hands to get out. Without the Halo he'd have escaped quicker from the fire and much more minimal injuries. The headrest ends a bit after his helmet visor, so the guard rail would hit it first and he was wearing a HANS device. Pretty sure he'd be fine without the Halo. I have seen two upside down crashes before the Halo, Alonso at Melbourne and Hulkenberg at Abu Dhabi (not counting the ones I have seen in 40 years; Only the modern F1 iteration). Even without the Halo they werent super fast to get out of it. Zhou's crash at Silverstone he ended upside down over the tyre barriers. What if he was under fire? The halo makes it difficult for the drivers to get into the car and to get out of it. Probably only a small driver like Tsunoda wouldnt have much difficult to get out given his size, but the difficult is still there even for drivers of his size. I would bet that in an upside down version of Grosjean's crash, Romain would deffo die and I'd say "I told you so, this is a terrible solution". FIA engineers focused on the wrong thing to solve a problem. First, getting your head hit in a such fashion like Henry Surtees or Jules Bianchi is quite super rare to happen. Second, the FIA experts could have solved it in a different way - the problem is in the environment (tracks) not the car. F1 cars have wheel tethers since 2005 so its quite super difficult to have your head hit by a tyre flying in a crash. They could have just worked to improve run off areas, wall riding/crash abosorbing, emergency rescue efficiency and so on. I find it much better to deal with the outcome/aftermath of a crash than try to prevent a crash; I have watched this sport for like 4 decades and I still see them trying to do it and creating new problems instead. So, cmon FIA, its better to deal with what happened than try to prevent it. Like, improve the rescue methods, improve how the medical team works in different crashes and its consequences so the driver gets an even higher survival rate. The halo won't make that job alone. And for the reference, FIA tested the Halo replicating real life crashes: Ayrton Senna (Halo failed, the suspension would still have pierced his head), Jules Bianchi (Halo failed, it couldnt sustain the force of the crash), Maria de Villota (same reason as Bianchi's) and Felipe Massa (the Brawn's car part would still pass through the Halo and hit him, and there is a risk of it hitting underneath the Halo and changing its direction towards Massa's body instead of his helmet as he was originally hit). And the Halo failed all them but one. The only FIA test the Halo passed prior to its introduction was the simulation of Henry Surtees crash, which is a very rare kind of accident. But fine, let the Halo defenders enjoy it, until a driver crashes upside down, and is in a fire or injured to a point the rescue can't get to him in time to save him. I'm saving my "I told you so" for that moment. I'd rather race without the Halo. If you are so scared to die in a racing car at 300 kph, then please keep your ass sat in a couch at your home watching real drivers doing it instead, this is not your sport, go practice a different sport. I am a racer at heart too, having raced in real life, and I would rather drive a 1980's F1 car than the current iteration.
