The problem he is creating is a fail in itself. Yes we have a green bin program and it works really well. The bags don't leak and if it ever smells we empty it. Then if we need compost we can go pick up a trailer full, for free at the recycling station. They have the space to hot compost it in big freaking piles.

This video isn't very helpful. It's just constant repeating of showing videos of different composters and never really getting to the point of why electric composters work or don't work. This is essentially a redundant crap talking video.

Which earthworms, beetles, bacteria, and so on actually decompose the biomass? I don't know if it's different, but in my country, soil intended for indoor use is cleared of all possible life to avoid odors and other things. (like they show in the vid)

Thunderfoot i think you're to skeptical about this product, if we get fusion energy reactors working next year then this composter's energy use won't be an issue anymore. I am sure Elon Musk is already finishing the development of his humanoid robots and is ready to finally make fusion energy working with his very big brain and very smart thinking ability. Donald Trump also just gave a BIG tax break to billionaires so they finally have the much needed cash to save the world. Everything is fine, nothing to worry about <3

I run mine on solar power in the window well. I have no Illusions about the benefits of this thing, but my climate is too hot for a worm biin and I've had nothing but gnats trying to run them indoors. I was gifted this thing so I didn't have to pay for it but I'm well aware of the wasteful costs of producing it. I don't send food scraps to the landfill anymore this way. I add them to my outdoor compost bin were they actually do become compost the advantages that I can keep these things around storing them multiple trips out to the compost pit in the winter.

You know what you do you get your a piece of fence you make a circle out of it put all your grass clippings your leaves and your food scraps inside of it and there's even products that you can buy to help with break down over time and you got a compost that uses absolutely no energy doesn't take any energy to build the product doesn't take any energy to run the product cost you about 20 bucks to build

I really tried to consider your stance. It was a 24 min video and I really tried to watch all of it. But it was kinda hard to bare, with all the mockery and harshness.⦠anyway, I really like my Eco 5, especially bc i donāt have an alleyway and my green bin is at the front of my home. I personally donāt feel like rinsing out the maggots in summer with a hose at the front of my home. Also, I really look forward to curing my plant food and mixing it with my garden soil to grow my own food. It may not be a perfect solution, but it works for me. Iām not trying to start anything, but I assume anyone who reads this will be game to different perspectives. If anyone responds to me, I think some basic civility is expected. Just putting it out there cuz the Reddit post that brought me here was kinda aggressiveā¦.

I got a Lomi on a Buy Nothing group. I have no idea how many people it went through, but I'm at least its third owner. At first I thought I'd won the jackpot, but now looking at these videos, I realize I got something akin to a waste incinerator. Thankful I didn't pay a cent for it! At least I can drop meat and dairy products in it unlike a regular backyard compost.

Ah isn't one of the points of composting is the bacterial breakdown of the matter . Heating it up to the point steam may come out is going to kill that bacteria pretty much rendering it useless as compost .
