Interesting perspective but thereās a big difference between having a platform and having something truly important to say. The certainty that your views fall into that category is hard to understand. In reality, no oneās opinion is that important; it often feels more like it serves a personal need than any broader significance.

It doesnt matter if God exists or not, it is healthy to imagine and try to see and find goodness. That said, my experience in adult life has been, Catholics trying to frighten me into their ams, so always talking of evil in people and of the devil instead of inspiring people to look for good and to try to emulate a good God. You Petersen were with the Canadian priest Barran in you tube when he talked of the philosopher Saint Anselms proif of God. Saint Anselm said that as the real was greater than the unreal and God is great, he must be real. I would say that if a good All Merciful Gid is fantasy, it could be a more healthy idea for humans to try to understand than anything provable, so, the unreal could be greater than the real . Searching for a good God can stop humans from too much negativity. Mystical Saints looked for God in nature. We have, in Christian mysticism, just one life in which to comprehend, see, such an entity. If we look for goodness in nature, we have to look for it in humans, which search should help us to look in a more positive way at others, so bettering the life of all. Saint Anselms other proof which isnt really such, of God, was that nature was so uncredible that God must exist. Trying to see the incredible and to seeb beauty in nature, gets us seeing the most dramatic and beatiful instead of boring bits of nature so also keeping us happier. I mentionedvabovevthat Catholucs had beenbtryingvtonuse thevdevil to scarebme into Gods arms insteadvog God to get me seeing the positive in life, to get me thinking of goodness, of total goodness. It seems to me that this adking us to think of the devil instead of God, has been done to Petersen too. The Church is the true purveyor of the of the dementores of Harry Potter. The Churches fear that people wont be inspired by a good God has made them instead of teachibg goodness, push the fear of the devil down peoples throats. As to Christ being part of God, in Judaism, as in Cristianity we are Gods children, so that when Jesus is asked by the Sanedrine if he is the son of God and he said, "I am", he was making a theological argument to the Sanehedrine. A big problem with this is that in Judaism, saying "I am", Y'hwei, the secret name of G'd, is fobidden.

It is nor just that women are more agreable than men because of hormons, of femaleness, I was taught to be cross with children but not with adults and adults in my childhood were always described as nice sobthstbwhen I really had to lern to attack afults, to defend my family and children not just myself, I thouggt if I had been a man I woukd have been better oreoared by my parents for this as I coukd then become a biss of adukts. . Latish in adult life, I got attacked bt Catholic militants who were verbally very worrying, before that I had troubles because men merely aviuded discusion with me. The Catholic militants tried to indoctrinate me with ideas I had not learnt from the very theologically competent nuns in my school, ideas like that pride is the worst sin. This idea comes from Saint Augustins rules, Charters for convents and monaseries, maybe so as to stop novices from questioning novice masters. To be theologicslly correct though pride is a vice, can lead to sin but is not a sin. They tried tobteach me that hierachy was goid per se, whenn it is simething that us often very damaging to so many humans. Also they tried to accuse me of having bad motives for even good actions and so make me so fear being blackened and exposed to other such bully technics such as continual moral attacks as made meblearnbto tell of adults. As for them, cleaning souls is true kindness, examining consciencs is a pretext for their throwing all possible faults in the world at people, so that they csn keep one on the jump all the time. Such bully technics, kept me so scared that I had in the end to learn to answer these adults back. To try to stop them being bad. In the end I thought, the church is still Inquisitional, they are trying to torture me by blackening me into leaving my relativism, which is to say frim being different from them in somethings. Different from the church in such things as feeling divorce is fine, they wanted to force me from fear I of them into being the type of Catholic they think I should be or into dropping my eclectisism, which is love for other religions, partly due in my case to an effort not to blacken others andxstart an other Holocaust, so I studied other religions but also, and due to a love for such things as Buddhism and Hinduism. My brothers and sisters have been harrassed by the Church though without doing anything as odd as liking Buddhism and my poor yoga teacher Ramiro Calle, has been surreptisiously attacked by them with tremendous ferocity. It seeemed to me that Catholics had also attacked me from a desire to turn me into a Catholic militant myself To get me to be a worker for them for free. When I had to answer such bullies, be an adult who corrected other adults, I thought, it is probable that men, as their parents expect them to be managers at work, teach boys to tell off not just children but grown ups too. Answering the manipulative is very rough, they twist what you say to make you look black and so to make you afraid of being blackened by them and are willing to blacken you so that you also need to tell on them to people you think they will blacken you too, or you need to learn to interrogate such, so as to control the situation a bit. There are probably men as well as women who dont learn in childhood to tell grown ups off, men whose parents feel they might lose their jobs if they are troublesome so dint teach them to face adults in life but I think it is much more frequent in women. Hence Petersen our being too agreable. You Petersen, who teach women and Dobyies not to be too agreable.

1:06:30 - We may not need to know 'exactly what the highest possible good is...' but we do need to know given current resource and technological constraint (among others) realistically what IS even a possibility. Too often one can aim too high and find comfort in the nobility of doing so, like people comparing things to ideal imaginary standards never achieved in human history - which is why we know more for certain how bad it can be - and while incremental improvement is a noble aim, unrealistic standards of basically apes without free will are unhelpful and lead to creating more lack of social cohesion leaving us worse off than we were when we decided to aim for 'the good'.

i really struggle with the way harris talks about opposing viewpoints. its really easy to say āthey say xyz, but they also say qā its like who are you talking about? be specific. he says that his opponents will be moral antirealists but also think that tolerance is better than intolerance. first of all, youāre not talking about anyone specifically, and second of all, thats not even a contradiction. maybe under error theory would it be a contradiction simply to say something is better than something that else, because thereās a difference between that and saying something is objectively better than something else

It's hard to remember a time when I believed in Sam Harris' words. A few little insults, and he became a conformer, masquerading as "togetherness." That is pure ego, my friend, and not togetherness. Talk about needing to hold your tongue before speaking? I can imagine JP's pain in this interview. There is strength from FE, and then there is STRENGTH. You, my friend, got the version where you believe you're doing it, but it's simply so your ego isn't wounded. You didn't stick to your guns. Your holstered them when your reputation was threatened. I think you said the word "reputation" once or twice. You could work on that, if you want to keep your monies.
