What shocked me as an African American was that some Kenyan people on their own lands in the rural ancestral areas were not seeing how wealthy they are. For us, African Americans we see people like the Masai or rural villages and think them poor but are unable to see our own poverty. Those hustle commercials we see about people living on a dollar a day, yeah many in the world can because they do not rely on currencies only. In the USA we have little choice but to rely on money, sadly most of our rural lives are behind us. Iam African who has lived in America for 20 years and many times i interact with AA they ask me the same question why Africans hate them.But the more I get to talk to them the more I realize the opposite is true.Coz while I am trying to be friendly they start to downgrading African jokes some try to test you by being aggressive just to see what you'll do and others try to scam you. This is not all of them but many enough you can't ignore. I have also experienced some who will be nice and friendly until they realize you are African then they completely change and become cold and it can become very uncomfortable if you cannot avoid the person com maybe you work at the same job. My third experience is the ones who are nice and friendly until they are around another African American then you suddenly become invisible.
