Mate, let's be honest; you'll never quit YouTube. Your ego wouldn't allow it to happen. You need likes and follows and attention like humans need food, oxygen and brain cells. Let no one kid themselves here when you say you want to leave or take a break or rest or stop making content because while you continue to kiss the ring of companies to their face (and shit talk them behind their back), you will continue on this platform.

<<@KurtGerster

Completely understandable. You work a lot and get burnt out at some point. You've earned well, but you think that it doesn't outweigh the negative aspects. Only later do you look back and realize that this was a luxury problem.

This was so well said- I loved the treadmill analogy. It makes so much sense! I got distracted by chasing the carrot, so I had to stop and press pause. I have found that one or two videos a month is my pace. It’s hard to see my friends in my niche do more, but I can’t compare myself to others, and I have to do my own capacity. I definitely feel like an octopus, too 😂

It's the same in every job. You grow as a software developer and then at some point you don't write a single line of code, maybe one day your job will be playing golf with other CEO. How to solve this? Very easy, don't scale. stay where you are. You're living what happens to millions of employees: you're in some measure tired of your job. But then usually the leave their job to pursue a creative career. You can always do the other way around ;-)

First of all what is a lot? 12 or 107 or 2,543? That is not a lot! In December of 2003 there were 61 million creators on YouTube. So lets say it was 5,000. That many did not leave en masse. No large number of creators left and we know that, Now the misuse of adjectives which is click bait rears it ugly head again. Stop using that phrase to get views! Secondarily, if a creator posts that he is quitting because he got stressed or tired or burned out that is their fault. Self induced pain is not my concern. And how could someone with 500K+ subs or more be tired... too stupid to hire help? Really? Perhaps 65% of all businesses fail in first three years. These fools been around a lot longer than that. Most businesses built on one personality seldom last... but these guys are crying their hearts out over nothing. It is all humbug! No tears for the complaints ...

You’re literally describing the scaling of any job, I don’t think being a YouTuber is unique. In software engineering people will end up managing a team instead of spending as much time programming. A doctor may spend more time thinking about how to run a department efficiently rather than actually see and treat patients. These are just two examples and but there are lots of examples out there of people complaining about this. Doesn’t make it less of a valid point of course.

I totally get what you are saying man, but if you think for one second I feel for those guys taking a break or quitting I DON'T! And never WILL! You literally have a dream job. I get that it isn't the easiest job in the world, you burn out, you need breaks or may even quit. And by no means are you asking us to feel sorry for y'all. You are not saying that at all. But I definitely get tired of hearing the same thing over & over & OVER AGAIN! Then QUIT! And hopefully you/them have made millions, then freaking go retire and enjoy LIFE! But for the normal people who have to work 10pm to 8am at Target on the night shift or UPS loading boxes in trailers from the floor to the ceiling from 11pm to 6am or driving a forklift loading freight from 1am to 9am we pretty much say STFU respectfully my man. Cause at any given time you can stop, and enjoy LIFE if you want! Nobody is saying your job is easy/glamorous, (and a side-note… thank you so much for doing it! I definitely appreciate your hard-work & your teams hard-work), but please don't make another video like this again…its laughable and beyond annoying and selfish! Just my hot-take on the topic.…my man.

Marcus what you are saying is true in all small business, you have to wear ‘many hats’. Not all creatives have a business head and not all business people have creative heads, rare to find both in one person, always find a person with what you dont have to get that synergy
