I knew that there were no one watiting to cut me up with a chainsaw, newer theless, i was afraid for a log time. Quite illogical, but, i guess, very human. I assume the space within the tubes is big enough to overcome the weight of the material they'll be made out of (hopefully), but also, wouldn't a vacuum also weaken the structure because of the lack of pressurized pushback from the tube interior? Would that mean it would need additional interior or exterior strengthening, thus increasing its total weight? Aside from it being a preposterous idea, it's just not practical, or safe.>> <<@piotr_jurkiewicz says : 14:40 1km/h best swimmers it's a joke>> <<@ziptieMasterTech says : I think the thing with aggressive Musk fans is the same as those that throw money at Kickstarter scams (as well as a deluge of political leanings) - nice, clean, utopian ideological solutions, as opposed to the much less exciting logistical realities. People have a huge natural propensity to chase the *feeling* of progress (post-fact, also somewhat postmodernist), but doing that in a pragmatic way is often slow, complicated, specialized, and sometimes turns out to not be feasible yet. When you undermine someone's idea of progress or utopia that they believe is attainable, they don't have a backup plan, they feel helpless, they'll get defensive - it's actually a kind of trauma response, especially for certain political leanings in many cases. Combine that with a good ol sarcastic Thunderf00t attitude and you've got a lot of pissed off people. On the feminism topics I think it's more misinterpretation of TF's fundamental message being conflated as an attack on *all* of feminism, or a threat to a particular motive that an individual doesn't realize they're trying to defend. I'm not sure whether TF's attitude in his videos is unhelpful, or something I respect. Either way I fuckin enjoy it.>> <<@NeptunesGlare1 says : Do you have any idea just how fucking funny you are. This is where the difference is found in deisel, the combustion isn't aided. It will take a Tesla level passion for a singular project to bring gas even close to diesel, and then comes the question of is it effecient to produce such an advanced engine... A vaporized fuel is easier to ignite than a more stable liquid, but it takes energy to turn the liquid into a vapor... so almost every step towards effeciency has a back side.>> <<@jamestaylor3805 says : How much blame could be placed on the facts vs feelings spectrum as you explained it for the conclusions that tech companies are "algorithming" their content? There may be something else, unless you know what's inside the bush, you can't make any assumptions. There's no place on this planet where you're actually safe, that's why high alert for a bush is instinctual, just like walking outside at 3am in a town. Everything you can do with feelings, facts do better, one of these is making yourself feel better, because you can use facts to your advantage to actually make a dent in reality you live in and improve your own state of being. In fact, you can make this video thanks to countless people who worked through generations using facts and logic. But I have to give credit where credit is due, curiosity is a powerful emotion without which we would've never succeeded as a species. The human world doesn't run on feelings and if we suddenly dropped facts nobody would have a means to even watch this video thanks to global energy outage and mass starvation, one of these things is already a problem in which we invested countless millions of manhours trying to fix and still didn't. Every plot of land is calculated near perfectly to make most profit when it comes to meat and dairy products for example, and high profits come from high yields of the product, which means a lot of food. Companies who are oh so evil are in fact optimizing for nothing less than that. As for common people who indeed are practically brainless and live by emotion, they are irrelevant non-contributors and the part of humanity that thinks for itself could very easily survive without them. But they do want to become clever. Because they want their lives to get better. To have better emotions, so to say. Of course, as they are stupid, they go something like "stupidity is a bliss." Which boils down to "it's smart to be stupid." Which is completely devoid of logic and is, of course, wrong. But what else did you expect from stupid? I mean, being wrong is the definition of stupid. So yeah, on the emotional level, they do want to be clever.>> <<@geared2cre8 says : Elon Musk is a fraud, America should petition to revoke all his government subsidies. Then have the sausage filling vessels hit wall, floor or ceilings at 1000 km/h, break open either vehicle or tube. If it is the tube, it gets instantly flooded, and all people on that "highway" get stuck and die. Or have a single vessel rupture, release the air inside the tube (included mashed humans) get stuck, and all people behind it suffocate, because no one is able to rescue a few hundred people from 5 km depth. It's a guaranteed one way ticket because you can't leave your vessel and just walk back a thousand miles. At least with our current technology. And we haven't even adressed tectonics or subaquatic volcano eruptions. Whoever designs this, has a job for the rest of his lifetime.
