I think you will find , in many countries, that the political machinery is far removed from the middle echelon of so called doers. Most of these people indeed lack the ability to be purposeful creators. When citizens vote for the visions of their elected leaders they hope to see those visions come to fruition. Sadly, most visions never see the light of day. I am a CEO who against the odds, as an expat, made massive positive changes and ensured changes were embedded structurally. However, I have basically 1 more year to go, after 10 years as CEO, having achieved National and International recognition. The relevance of me sharing is that while I am in my final year, these same middle echelon politicians are already trying to eradicate the structure because it doesn't suit their narrative, which includes bribery, cronyism and nepotism. And I am leading a Convention Centre in SEA.
