Marx was living in the 19th century. There is not Intellectual from back there that wasn't racist of some degree. Even the man himself who figure out we are all a family, Charles Darwin, was racist. But we build upon these men ideas, not simply criticize them with the mind of today.

And whats funny is this entire comment section doesn't even understand what Marx taught. Modern "marxists" have it completely wrong. He layed out a prediction for the natural progression of the global superstructure, and capitalism as the force that would carry it out. He didn't write some framework about "overthrowing capitalism"

Stooping to such a low where the best people can do to try and dismiss Marxism is by saying that he used a vulgar word (which was common place during the industrial period) is so shameful. This critique does not challenge the substance of marxism as an economic theory and offers no basis for productive argument.

So Karl Marx wrote the German word "Neger" in the 1800s. What a shocker. How the duck does this discredit his valid criticisms? Edit: That word was pretty common for black people back in the day. Not only derogatory. It was just the word used to describe black people.

Well it wasn't actually spelled the way we might think. It was the German word for "negro" which is n-e-g-e-r and was the most respectful adjective available at the time. African American leftist movements appear to be astonishingly ignorant to the history of their own orthodoxy. I would double check anything, when Peterson is around. Considering the times the Communist Manifesto was written, I do have real doubts about this. Both were educated. Engels was actually rich and a capitalist. Maybe that is why he is largely written out from history. But he did have the insider knowledge of the system and capitalism I don't think Marx could have written DAS KAPITAL without him. What you are implying that Marx was a racist. Considering that Germany had very few people of any color at that time, at what point he came to a conclusion that it is fine. While other countries are using similiar words, it isn't a degraded version. No negative connotation. So I am quite skeptical, about the subject and the timing. As the US is in the second stage of fascism, it is pretty peculiar to talk about Marx or anyone else in relation to socialism or communism. I don't know how much they pay you, but it isn't enough for discrediting yourself.

Marx was one of the earliest radical European thinkers to call for the complete abolition of black slavery, without compromise. âLabour in the white skin can never emancipate itself as long as labour in the black skin is branded.â â Karl Marx, Capital, Volume I âThe workingmen of Europe feel sure that as the American War of Independence initiated a new era of ascendancy for the middle class, so the American Anti-Slavery War will do for the working classes.â â Marx, 1864, letter to Abraham Lincoln Yes, Marx used slurs in private letters but that doesnât make him a racist in political terms. In a private letter to Engels (1862), Marx referred to Ferdinand Lassalle as having a ânegroâs featuresâ and used the word âyidâ (in German) for another person. That kind of language is unacceptable by todayâs standards, no doubt. But it was typical 19th-century polemic, and Marx used insults liberally (including against white Germans, the English, the French, Jews, Slavs, Russians, and even himself). His use of slurs in personal insults doesnât equal support for racial hierarchy or white supremacy. It was crude, not ideological racism. Marx supported Black resistance and revolts. He praised, the Haitian Revolution led by Black slaves and the John Brown raid on Harperâs Ferry; a violent anti-slavery uprising by an abolitionist with Black support. He also praised the actions of Black workers in the U.S. South as part of the revolutionary class struggle. He condemned European imperialism in India, Ireland, Africa, and the Caribbean. He called colonisers âvampiresâ who âsuck the bloodâ of indigenous and enslaved peoples. Dr. Paul Kengor: proof that you can get a PhD and still rely on cherry-picked 19th-century insults to score 21st-century culture war points. Less historian, more propagandist with tenure.

With anything else lefties would dismiss anything the person had ever said, if they found out this person held racist views. As if their ideas had been infected. Like holding an intellectual grudge. Not so with Marx I guess. You'd think a sane person would see Marxist ideas and laugh at them, but they're held up instead! đ¤Śââď¸ They must have an ulterior motive. Perhaps the power and control they accuse others of.

You can tell Jordan Peterson whatever you want about communism and Marx and he will believe it because he is a spoiled illiterate upper class brat who thinks he knows best. He is too lazy to even open a book and read it. He only regurgitates lies and his own interpretations of Marx and communist ideology. A deeply anti-democratic stance that is terrible. Here are some examples of the pure errors he regurgitates. He claims that Marx says that history is the history of the struggle between two classes. I urge everyone to look up The Communist Manifesto online and read the first sentence. There you can read "The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles. Freeman and slave, patrician and plebeian, lord and serf, guild-master and journeyman, in a word, oppressor and oppressed, stood in constant opposition to one another, carried on an uninterrupted, now hidden, now open fight, a fight that each time ended, either in a revolutionary reconstitution of society at large, or in the common ruin of the contending classes." Plural that is. He also talks about the dictatorship of the proletariat when he reviews the Communist Manifesto and it is a very controversial concept that is never mentioned in the Communist Manifesto. Marx and Engels' view of society and history is and was something that is constantly being developed and reinterpreted. It goes without saying that Marx could not have been right about everything since he is a product of his time and the capitalist mode of production. Just as everyone is a product of the society they live in. It is one of the cores of the Marxist and historical materialist analysis and perception. Jordan Peterson does not even want to explain society while Marx wanted to change it. Anti-communists in the world tremble for knowledge and enlightenment because they know that millions and millions of workers and oppressed people in the world have and will read Marx and what he wrote will feel very logical. However, what I have heard from Petersen within his expertise can certainly be relevant and useful. I have not studied them carefully but they can certainly be used in a good way. In the same way, everyone should always strive to increase their level of knowledge on all levels. They can never take your knowledge away from you but they already own your work.
