Do religion abide by state and government law already? To build a church, it obeys law reguarding building construction electric and water and sewage. Yes... It follows. When a church first is made did they tell the state by requirement that it exists? Yes you need a certain number of followers to found a church by state law. Does the church pay tax? Why the hell not>> <<@unc1589 says : The framers made a lot of mistakes but they were pretty spot on when it came to “religion” in society. In fact, God handles the issue pretty much the same way. America won’t legally force religion and neither will God! You guys gotta watch the Benjamin Franklin documentary on PBS to see how these guys slug it out over how they framed a nation. Think of it. There’s no “how to frame a nation” handbook. Nobody got everything they wanted and everybody compromised their position. Beautiful! God said "I have created you for my own glory" and then He said "This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased, hear ye him". That bit about freedom of religion is mortal replay of Eden. God is not religion, religion is choice between obedience and rebellion no matter the hue. He is instruction, to which the only acceptable response is obedience no matter the reservation. He will explain Himself if queried but that's as far as man's opinion goes. The bright side is, He pulls His weight every single time. Of all these "churches," only the Catholic Church has the spiritual and historical commission back to the Apostles and Jesus Christ. Private Opinion is condemned in 2nd Peter, and thus as an Athiest would say, you are a product of your religious environment. 2) The Bible and Infallible Judgement. It is a historical fact the official closed canon of Scripture came in the second half of the 4th Century (Councils of Hippo, Carthage, Rome.)  If you grant Scripture is "the infallible" word of God, you must give the Church Bishops "infallible judgment" by the Holy Spirit that picked the specific books of the canon. You cannot have one without the other. If you reject the 73 book closed canon based upon the argument of Martin Luther, then you are rejecting a closed canon of nearly 1100 years. If you accept any non-Catholic translation such as the King James Version, you still must grand the men who compiled that translation infallible judgment, which directly refutes the Protestant Position. Secondly, what Bible translation do you use, and is it a good translation? An excellent argument for an English translation is the King James Version (but not 1611); however, the Douay Rheims is a better version translated over 41-42 years. Thus what version do you give authority to, and why, and do you grant "infallible" judgment to the translators. If you don't, then your translation is not safe. 3) The 60-second Position of the Church for Salvation is a confession of belief and baptism, then love the Lord Jesus and keep his commandments: (Acts 8: "Then Philip, opening his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached unto him, Jesus. [36] And as they went on their way, they came to a certain water; and the eunuch said: See, here is water: what doth hinder me from being baptized? [37] And Philip said: If thou believest with all thy heart, thou mayest. And he answering, said: I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. [38] And he commanded the chariot to stand still; and they went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch: and he baptized him. [39] And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord took away Philip; and the eunuch saw him no more." "If you love me, keep my commandments.">> <<@arthurb2005 says : How can the government function(punishing evil and protecting righteousness) without the moral law giver. The amendment was to protect different denominations and beliefs held in good conscience from the dictatorship of the state. It was not to stop people who believe in prayer from praying to God in state owned buildings, rather it was to prevent Anglicans or Catholics or Methodists taking over government and forcing their ideology on others. But now those who anti-christian (and antijewish) want to force an atheist ideology and practice on those who do believe in God. It is the exact opposite of the original intension of the constitution.>> <<@drumrnva says : We can have "God- given moral rights" without having a religion? I think you missed a huge opportunity here! The fellow is obviously an atheist who agrees that everything should be secular in our society. You never address the problem with where he gets his morality from. Or the fact that not everyone shares his morality. All this fellow was saying was that might makes right. He's blind to the fact...that in his silly view...the majority can impose whatever morality they desire upon the rest of society. He ASSUMES that society will always choose HIS preferred morality. He feels justified and empowered because Hitler isn't the one in charge...this time. These people simply have an emotional neediness for a Godless universe. That emotional BIAS leads them to make many mistakes in their issuance of morality toward others. Namely, that he can prevent people from expressing their religious beliefs openly ... EXACTLY as our forefathers so obviously tried to allow and protect! The Constitution and the Bill of Rights all point to a benevolent God who gave us those unalienable rights. Our rights don't come from the Judiciary, or the legislative, or executive branch of our government... as silly people like Sotomayer ASSUMES. By removing the power of our government to issue rights, we protect our freedom. Without it, tyranny will rule. Just look at all the tyranny now verses when Christian morality was the norm. Our government is bankrupt in money and truth...and how exactly is this better???? Seriously....either you have God's morality, or you get Mao, Hitler, Stalin, Ghengis Khan...all atheists...all disasters. Atheists, or Marxists/communists are all moral disasters! I hated myself for not having achieved more but i was still proud. I was proud angry and hateful. I thought that because i had been through abuse and homelessness and never gave up that i was better than everyone. It wasn't until i confessed my sin in front of another Christian that my life changed. Instantly my pride, something that was destroying my life since birth completely disappeared. God delivered me from my sin and i feel like a completely new man. We're all lost and broken. I never belived that. "No one could be depressed like me or anxious like me. No one could be so hateful towards themselves and others." And that's not true. Everything any human has felt emotionally is the same as everyone else. I came to Tennessee with nothing, living in transitional housing. I now have a car and a place, and friends i call brothers. I didnt achieve or deserve any of this its only by the grace of God. I couldn't change myself only God could.Thats my experience. All my mental Illness, my depression, my anxiety, my self hate instantly disappeared and i dont deserve anything i have nor to go to heaven. Everything i have is through the grace of God. Unimaginable grace generosity and infinite love ✝️♥️Listen carefully i beg you. You have to start looking for God. Those who seek will find and I'm living proof. I sought out God while living in the Chicago area and now I'm in Tennessee with a brand new life. It was hard. It was a very hard year of searching before I found God. It's important to define religion here... It has 2 fundamental parts. One part talks about morality (present physical relaity) and other part talks about salvation of one's soul (future spiritual reality). So he can argue that religion in the form of first aspect is being used in law and it'll always be necessary to justify why it's objective and not subjective to human's whims and fantasies.>> <<@BrianBadondeBo says : "We'll legislate morality but not religion, see there's a difference". If human laws were to attempt to enforce morality, all would be guilty, "for all have sinned". The issue many Christians run into is they think they are required to send the exusia (the human government) against unbelievers to attempt to make them act morally. No. Justice is "an eye for an eye, a life for a life (etc.)". Human law/justice only exists to ensure that certain sins against humans are paid back to the victim (almost always by the guilty). Justice is presented as an accounting issue, a debt that needs to be paid. This understanding of justice also makes clear what Jesus did on the cross. He paid all the debt of the entire world. In doing so, he ought to have freed us from any misunderstanding that our human law/justice should even begin to attempt to use force against someone to get them to repay God for the sins (debts) they've incurred. That's already been dealt with!>> <<@lthlrsny says : THE THUMBNAIL yall are too funny on this channel>> <<@nathanoswaltmusic says : WOW. Dr. Turek is SPOT-ON in his assessment of the difference between legislating religion and legislating morality. I feel that today, those who hold to the ideology of Radical Socialist Leftism believe that there’s no difference; therefore they seek to completely upend the moral system. We’re seeing this upending happen in front of our eyes, what with all the LGBTQ+ indoctrination of our kids, the over-sexualization of pop and entertainment culture, and the rise of POC-supremacy racism disguised under the slogan of “Black Lives Matter” (of course Black lives matter, because ALL lives matter - that’s common-sense morality; otherwise why do we have laws against murder? And what about the unborn? Shouldn’t abortion, which RSL-ism endorses for the sake of sexual convenience, be considered blatantly immoral under the same grounds?).>> <<@incredulouspasta3304 says : _"Every government has to ground it's laws in some sort of moral principle... why not God's nature?"_ 1. Because that's extremely vague 2. Because we have no way of coming to an agreement on what God's nature is. You can't objectively test the nature of God. For some reason, Frank is extremely concerned about objectivity when criticizing _other_ people's concepts of morality, but not his own. Weird. 3. Because it isn't really relevant to the purpose of government: protecting the collective welfare of people. Just use a moral principle that we can all agree on: protecting our collective welfare.>> <<@tTtt-ho3tq says : Ok I'm not smart. I'm not leaned nor well educated. I'm not a student of history either. America was a colony and there're plantations with slave labors. And the original US Constitution allowed slavery, didn't it? Or American Christians didn't free slaves then?>> <<@christiantruthmatters says : This poor guys need jesus....
