I would have taken those huge, heavy, thick U-shaped wood panels to the shop, used 00 steel wool all over them, wiped some medium colored stain onto them with a cotton rag, run tack cloths over them when they were dry and sealed them with two coats of urethane. Then I would have bolted together four matching color legs with braces between them from parts found in the Millworks Department (turned hardwood legs), Lumber Department (hardwood between the legs braces) and Hardware Department (brackets to fasten the legs to the table top) at Home Depot for each table...and I would have put them back in the house, flat sides together, as a huge, modular, moveable dining table(s). And a set of 12 matching chairs to go with the two tables would be easy to find...done!
