<<@elspofamilia says : Wait, they make disks with moving parts?!>> <<@GirardGT says : Amazing contribution. We teach RiscV Assembler in our computer architecture courses at our University and this helps a lot to promote practical aplication of the RiscV Isa. By the way if you read this can you give the name of the Tea you drank on the video?>> <<@Kerivity says : I'm thinking on turning my framework 13 risc-v mainboard into an sbc nas>> <<@rusticagenerica says : But why is RISC V important?>> <<@sunny_azu_red says : 13:45 -- it took hours? what??? why!?>> <<@privateagent says : As someone who has to use a raspberry pi zero 2w as an OpenMediaVault NAS, I can certainly say that this is blazingly fast. The future is bright for us Linux users>> <<@xnetc9 says : Would be nice if you did a cpu and drive performance test while using cryptsetup.>> <<@An.Individual says : 18:42 you say "This board is not the most practical board to build a NAS". I wonder which, do you think, is the best board?>> <<@rickard9294 says : How many watts does the system use?>> <<@xoxide1017 says : Risc-V could be amazing.. i will most likely buy one and get ubuntu working on it to just have handy>> <<@ThylineTheGay says : Is it easy/possible to boot from the nvme? microsd reliability is my main issue with SBCs>> <<@IraQNid says : How about testing the speed of USB 3.x at 4.8 Gbps, 10 Gbps, 20 Gbps, 40 Gbps Ethernet adapters to see how the various SBCs perform? Dual 2.5 Gbps Ethernet ports are becoming the standard on more computers these days. Getting ahead of the trend can create somewhat "future-proof" videos that could be popular for years or decades to come.>> <<@AndrewJackson2000 says : One Question Chris...? I clik on your channel but some rude dude appear on the screen. I mean... WTF?>> <<@alexislechevalier1022 says : I'm earing about the RISC architecture for about 25 years, when I started to work. Back in these days, the easiest way to run something on these devices was to use some Gentoo like distros. Not the more user friendly I know to date. I'm pretty amazed how it turned out.>> <<@richardwernst says : Thanks>> <<@danielsnyder6900 says : RISC-V has a bright future with support of Linux and Open Media Vault. I was looking for a low power NAS solution and this setup is it. Also as an American, I buck the trend, I love a good cup of tea, not a fan of coffee.>> <<@jaakkohintsala2597 says : Always love to see videos about RISC-V.>> <<@snoopstp4189 says : I'm worried about your cable management,, because it looks so much better than mine.>> <<@HKey_Root says : Mmm, I think I'm on the cusp of replacing my QNAP NAS. Excellent vid. Thank you.>> <<@Jdvc-yd5tx says : Are you on drugs?>> <<@truthreigns7 says : Very good and educational. thank you>> <<@PWingert1966 says : Does open media vault support any of the Automatic NAS online backup services like Backblaze?>> <<@QazCetelic says : 16:52 I heard the spin down process caused more wear than consistent spinning. Is this untrue?>> <<@MrGoMario says : Have you tried running FreeBsd on this board? Now that would be something....>> <<@nunya___ says : 2:47 Baby Stan -ley do-do-da-do-da-da, baby Stan-ley do-do-da-do-da-da 🐟🐟🐟>> <<@jedaquino1759 says : Id!ot do normal x86 computers>> <<@Geenimetsuri says : This is incredibly cool! Risc-V doing a task really well instead of being just a barely functioning demo-board! Also, I'm still amazed at the connectivity of that board.>> <<@VeolonMedia says : it will broke realy fast.... "micro SD Card" why not the EMMC ???>> <<@TomekSw says : Power usage?>> <<@dffabryr says : Excellent video Chris !! RISC-V is a real ARM challenger, maybe in the near future we will have a "RISC-V-PI" SBC>> <<@dalriada842 says : "I'm sure some people are worried about my cable management..." HAHAHA!>> <<@PeterMoeller-y1z says : /dev/sda stands for first SCSI device, not first SD card.>> <<@autohmae says : 7:01 pretty certain that's s for SCSI and SAS and SATA was added later to the same driver, both protocols support removable devices. And SAS also has that serial in the name.>> <<@autohmae says : 3:25 well, strictly speaking you were already doing RISC 🙂>> <<@mikefinn2101 says : Thanks for the great update and new exciting updates and all your time and efforts>> <<@antinna_yt says : let us know whenever a new product launches>> <<@chriholt says : Very impressive Chris!>> <<@tombr8888 says : Chris, thanks a lot. Excelent as always! 👍>> <<@martinsmith5028 says : Hi Chris. Another excellent video. I always watch out for the NAS builds and this was a nice change having it set up on a RISC-V and to have it set up as a RAID. Have fun>> <<@asnovasdodia says : DC to IDE+Molex to SATA power to 2xSATA power must be the most hilarious cable combo ever.>> <<@incandescentwithrage says : That power arrangement was a bit sketchy. The provided ground lug for the IDE PSU should have been connected to a ground on the SBC board to give the drives and SBC the same 0v reference. One of the pins of the m.2 slot was likely providing the ground link in your case, which is less than ideal.>> <<@liquidmandotcom says : Wait, EC coffee mug?>> <<@magpie_max says : I like those AMIGA vibes w/ stopwatch waiting cursor and guru-meditation error-screen...>> <<@DeneMcDonald says : Interesting to look at the age of those drives - 2012, doesn't seem that long ago. 12 years. If you had used new drives, that would be equivalent to someone repurposing those drives in 2036 which seems a long way away!>> <<@followthetrawler says : Could you have increased performance by setting up the other Ethernet in a LAG?>> <<@strawberriebabieex3 says : I want to get off MS Win 10 /Win 11. what is the best way to go? simply what is the advantage of Risc-V, Liniux, etc versus simply sticking with the Devil (Micorsoft)? i do not feel like trying out dozens of alternative OS's unless i know it is worth it. i need to be prouctive and active on my computers so your contructive comments are much appreciated.>> <<@RoboNuggie says : Thanks for this Chris, it's both a review and a how-to.... and points to some very interesting things in store for RISC-V. It would be quite something if Raspberry PI released a one-off RISC-V board....>> <<@paulmilligan3007 says : I noticed that, in the original review of this board, there is a mini-pcie slot on the other side of the board, so a 4 x sata NAS is probably doable. It wouldn’t be neat but it might be fun.>> <<@ionbladezofficial says : 7:00 you mention it was strange that the disks show as SSDs based on them showing sd(a/b) in them? I'm pretty sure that the 'sd' part refers to "serial device" and not SSD (or SD/Secure Digital, for that matter). If I'm wrong -- feel free to point and laugh at me (^: Otherwise this is sick! Something I've been waiting to throw money at is a nice Linux on RISC build!>> <<@DoctorOnkelap says : Were you taking a Risc when sneeking in a molex?>>
