I make wooden sword replicas and you told us to tell you what we think so here are some tips! -1: Seal and sand your wood before painting. Always seal the wood with something like a brush on sanding sealer or even just satin lacquer in thin coats and sand it so it removes the grain texture and prevents raised grain. Paint is a liquid and all liquids absorb into wood. -2: Always use more than one color to paint a steel color if you don't have access to stuff like Alclad lacquer paint. This ensures that multiple tones and details can be made out so it has more dimension that can be seen in all forms of light and it doesn't look like paint. -3: Learn to be patient with math. You can get exact measurements from pictures to fit you if there are no pictures with scale of your source material. Grab your calipers and be ready to do a lot of measuring! -4: Have fun! There's always parameters you should set for yourself but make sure fun fits within them or it won't come out good. If a small detail doesn't work, it doesn't work. It's not steel, it's wood, it can't be made the same way so don't stress and try something else or fix it later down the line when you learn a new skill or technique! Making replicas like this is one of my favorite ways I use wood carving. It's a family trade and this is the most fun things I've done with it. I've made everything from kitchen utensils, combs, and hair accessories all the way to different props and replicas and stuff like this sticks out the most because it's a new way I learn about different things relating to the project at hand>> <<@jamesjanson6129 says : At a thousand euros with the Kurgan sword case with the cool internal hygerlophics[sic] included .I'd buy one.Always thought it a great idea, but it would be of dubious practical or fighting capability I think.>> <<@OnTheRiver66 says : I like its features! Thanks to you and Vanessa>> <<@gtsbrian167 says : You did great!>> <<@xPumaFangx says : It is cool. But I do not believe you will pull off a functional real sword.>> <<@CyberPirate2008 says : Probably best left as a prototype but I would like to see you make one out of steel or some other metal alloy that is easier to use. It would look great on your wall.>> <<@ArtemSlobodyanuk says : 5:27 that's what i call legendary!>> <<@ArtemSlobodyanuk says : It's a pity that you can't let smoke into the house, for a greater effect!>> <<@palstadshaug4933 says : Epic! Never too old to have fun!!>> <<@matthewkilner says : I love your recreation of the film.>> <<@redacted6251 says : The threaded rod design is excellent for keeping tension and rigidity through the blade. It may be a departure from the movie sword but an angular pommel might be better than a ball style. An angled or hex shaped pommel would allow the sword to be assembled or dissabmbler with a crescent wrench to get everything extra tight.>> <<@ericconyers8972 says : There can be only one.>> <<@Alpha.Phenix says : Fun project is fun.>>
