What I mean is, not all that follow Christ or god have the same system of beliefs. Even within the same texts. I grew up in going to a Christian school, and was brought up in a first Baptist Church. It actually resulted in a lot of confusion in me because there was opposing views on scripture. As it stands right now I'm theistic agnostic. But there is argument in a lot of these comments as to whether priests, pastors, and presbyters were at what times abstinent or not.
