Lower power usage would also be a great goal, especially for portable applications. since most modern SBCs still use very old nodes like 40nm, upgrading that to something more modern like the 3 or 4 nm used in modern phones, or even larger like 5, 6, 7 or 8nm would already be a great gain. doing this also allows for a reduced size, increased speed. and much more. I noticed the Odroid HC4 went down to 12nm to make it more efficient, and they kept low clocks which resulted in some users reporting a powerusage of 1W to 1,5w depending on the fan or no fan version, when in idle, and also quite low power usage in normal use when setup right. the raspberry pi 4 has decreased it's node from 40nm to 24nm. however they keep the same high voltages on the chip, and greatly increased the clocks which makes it not that much more efficient, most of it's design also is not changed for low power usage. it would be a great day and/or night when something where normal power usage is even lower than the Odroid HC4's idle power usage when configured right(by default the os is configured wrong and so it doesn't reduce the CPU power when there is no CPU load causing it to always use around 3 to 4 wats minimum, even when there is no load). Or something similar in power usage to that or the pi, yet powerful enough to come close to a budget/average user pc>> <<@mevk1 says : Cool show! But matured is hard to judge considering the deeper vertical integration Raspberry foundation is going. They might surprise as again but I am not sure if that might be usefull except of getting rid of the sd card adventures. It does not really fit in 2022 to deliver a system that will fail more than once caused by sd card. It might be time to add a variant supporting ssd or offering onboard ssd emmc if that would be possible. But I guess that the SBC market in total is a challenging shark tank with low ROI expectations cause how few are made of the huge amount of maker boards that claim to be better and different. I do not know who buys these even though I can not see where else they are used for being not an expert. But it feels like far too many sbc boards available and some might die sooner or later. There are too many being too close to each other in the market and all the chinese flaws will have a tough time to fight against those raspberry pi's. If you think that these SBCs are awesome, wait just 1-2 months until the new SBCs with a RockChip RK3588 SoC hit the shelves of chinese online stores. The RK3588 is going to be a monster of an SoC for relatively the same price as the current offerings. It's 8-core, built on the Samsung 8nm process, and has comparable performance to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, if not better. And save up some money to get the 8GB or even 12/16GB models. I don't run a lot of applications but do have a lot of complicated spreadsheets and I am pretty sure they will run perfectly well on a simple machine like a pi400. At some stage I will probably build a simple Pi machine with a full size keyboard.
