About five years ago, I was cycling along a bike path next to the motorway when I spotted several Strandbeests standing on the embankment in the distance. Since then, whenever I carpool along that route, I've pointed them out to my colleagues and shown them videos of these incredible walking sculptures. Today, I was cycling in the area with my daughters, and we finally visited the Strandbeest graveyard. Visitors are invited to give some of the retired creatures a new lease of life by pulling the handles marked with red tape. It was amazing to see these "extinct" beasts move once again—even if only for a moment. It was a truly impressive experience.
