useless video, the comparison of the regular and the heavy broadhead on penetration, is failed. For one, you didn't secure the wood boards sufficiently to actually see an accurate comparison; the fact that it made the whole thing fly, does not equal penetration. And on the gelatine, you did not test the regular one so we see the difference. waste of my time.

What happens if you put some lead weight inside the shaft at the front with the smaller broadhead? If the steel is good enough it would be able to penetrate even better and be less susceptible to wind due to smaller area. Might be something to think about.

4:58 Do you have weaons? Please test it out, i think these 6 layers of beech plywood are not able to stop a .308 even a 5,56×51mm should be able to do it, a .50 BMG i think, would very easily penetrate. Even a 9mm pistol rund should do it i think.

I think it has less to do with the chisel grind and more to do with edge angle. Maybe a sufficiently narrow v-grind or hollow grind will do as well, if not better.

if it is like bullets for just pure penettration you need speed and small bullets go faster. smaller / thinner bullets are better in penetration. nou this broad head would do a lot more dammage since the wound would be like thrice as big haha

I love your channel . Might I suggest you make the cheapest broad head. It would great to see you make a make and test them. Using a 6 mm wood Dowling rod. Cut a slot then insert a broad head made from glass. Keep up the good work. Kindest regards Alan Ware

There seems to be some fundamental errors in reasoning here, which, if left unaddressed, could result in newbies unnecessarily causing animal suffering. Firearm projectiles are designed to predominantly kill by the conversion (upon impact of the projectile) of kinetic energy into traumatising tissue/organ damage. The emphasis is therefore on maximising the efficiency of that conversion. On the other hand, arrows are designed to kill by rapid blood loss. Thus, the emphasis is on getting, where possible, a full pass through; in the heart/lung region, creating the largest possible, unobstructed path for blood loss into the body cavity, and also out through the entry and exit holes or should I say, cuts in the hide . The goal is to have the game animal travel the smallest distance possible, and die as quckly as possible, due to the said blood loss. Where the game being hunted is particularly large and heavy boned, the resistance to the arrows ability to give a pass through must be factored in; hence the paramount importance of weight and sharpness, when hunting say African beasties. However, what ever the game being hunted, unlike with a bullet, we're looking to conserve the momentum of the arrow, so as to give a total pass through. With a bullet we are looking to do the exact opposite of conservation of mometum; in that case we want maximum transfer of energy into tissue shock. This fundamental difference is perhaps best understood by looking at Sambar Deer hunting. An experienced Sambar hunter using a rifle, typically aims at the animals neck slightly below the spine, using a high velocity round, incorporating a relatively blunt nosed and heavy bullet. The split second massive tranfer of kinetic energy into tissue trauma, shocks the nervous system, often instantly stopping and killing the animal where it stands. The experienced hunter using a compound or crossbow will typically look for a quartering, shot passing through both lungs, but ideally the heart, with the arrow or bolt completly exiting the animal. That said, the hunter using the arrow knows that it is extremely rare for an arrow penetration to cause the animal to die on the spot. Some post shot movement is almost certain; giving rise to the secondary importance of a pass through; larger, more conspicuous blood trails which allow easier post shot tracking of the Deer. Please do not confuse the two fundamentally, almost opposite mechanisms of causing death to the quarry. To do so, could result in you causing inadvertant suffering.

I can imagine why the single bevel goes deeper. It can be because the flat side has less contact area with the flesh, while two beveled is in full contact.

11:03 on this question, I think the largest whales could survive a shot if not hit in a very vital area like the eye or part of the skull where the brain is. Salt water sterilizes the wound and their blubber is so thick that if it hit most areas of its body, it would just be very annoyed. Several would definitely be very deadly though.
