Glutamic acid is then replaced by aspartic acid and gets labeled as argining instead - 12:50 - "AI is not just good at protein folding." AlphaFold cannot predict protein folding. No one can. Protein folding is the process that happens between synthesizing the chain and the chain attaining the final structure. AlphaFold can predict the finale structure; not the folding process. That part is still a huge open problem for protein science. - You've ignored the whole concept of pLDDT. AlphaFold contains a whole module which ranks how confident it is in its prediction. Because while AlphaFold has predicted so many structures, it's not always confident whether the prediction is correct or not. That can help anyone working with those structures to tell whether to trust it or not. - Lastly, I refuse that this is an artificial intelligence. It offers no intelligence besides the result, it offers no insight into why or how things happen.
