Greetings! If you are surprised that this video released 14 hours early, then so am I! It seems I set the release date correctly, but not the time, so the video released at 12:00am GMT (00:00), not 2:00pm. My bad. But at least I got the date right (UK time), so my record of releasing a video every Sunday since December 2015 remains unbroken . . . which is something I will return to in next week's episode.

If the USB device you're booting from doesn't spin up or show up quickly, you can also enable a 5-second USB boot timeout. If your USB boot device doesn't show up quickly, and you don't want a different drive or SDcard to boot during that delay; you can use a FAT32 sdcard partition and set program_usb_delay=1 (i.e. in bootfs on a Pi SDcard) in config.txt

I would have thought the online / available version would let me do a freshh login like all the other OSs....apparetly I'm missing something somewhere.... C

Hello, may I ask question? I have pi 500+ and I bought 1TB drive for it, I want to have raspbian and the 256gb batocera image with amiga games in IMG format. How can I use that image to use it in multiboot so I can choose between raspbian and batocera when booting with Pinn?

Hello Chris, i Like your content very much,I have a question that you might know: is it possible to install Raspberry Pi OS and Fyde OS on one NVMe using PIN? I know Fyde O is not in the Pinn menu, but is it possible as a img i can manual put in?

I am not going to watch the video, however Pinn I have just used in August 2025. I installed three operating systems on there, or might have been four. However, one does not work for some reason. So this is not a perfect solution. I am using a 4 TB NVME drive, so I am not sure if that has something to do with it.

Thanks for your tutorial, I have the same M.2 as yourself. When pinn loads up and the os is auto selected it takes 45-50 seconds , is this roughly correct or should it be faster .

glad you did this one. I rebound my Rasp Pi 4. ( Don't ask ). anyway, when playing with rasp pi now, I found out that if I loaded ubuntu, I did not have the rasp config programs. so to update firmware, I had to re-load rasp pi os.s Now tying up 2 micro-sd cards.s It would be so smuch nicert to have both OS's on an sd car ( or more ) and boot what os I liked the best, then bood Rasp Pi OS on firmware or other updates. or to run other tools needed. I have tried to press the space bar for boot choices and it did not work. I had done a firmware update before the test -so I thouhgt that I was setup , but now I know - go for 'latest' not 'default' for firmware update. so I will try that. but I really one to multiboot. for the reasons that I have said. thank hyou again

<<@JohnClemence
says :
Just a quick observation (but took me longer than it should have to solve). I have Ubuntu on the SD card and Raspian on a M.2 drive. But for the life of me I couldn't get my 8GB Pi5 to respond to the space bar on boot up. Then I realised that, because I am sharing the keyboard, mouse and sound between four computers the Pi5 wasn't able to register the presence of the keyboard in time. Solution - plug a spare keyboard into a spare USB socket and 'hey presto' the OS choice screen appeared as shown in your wonderful video.

Informative video, thank you. Not to be a bother, but would you have any insight into that following? I recently used PINN to partition Raspberry OS and Batocera onto a 500gb NVME. The version of Batocera available to install was V39, and when I tried updating to V41 I got an error message stating there wasn't enough room on the boot drive. Are you aware of a way to resize the boot drive to allow for updates? If PINN eventually updates to a more current version would a reinstall overwrite the rom and scraped data?

<<@Matt_Eagle_777

It is not to be underestimated how important this video is for raspberry pis and their users. This is because it explains how to easily 1) boot from something else than an SD card, i.e., an SSD card can be used. This way, a raspberry pi can allegedly become A LOT faster and A LOT more reliable than with an SD card. That means, you have a pi that is a lot faster without much hassle. 2) It explains how to use multiboot. That means that it is easy to try out different operating systems, which for many people equals to what a computer is like, and which for many linux users is essential to have fun with their computers, since they like to "distro hop". So: Thank you very much. Your work is very important.

Chris, i have _one tiny nitpick_ which i can no longer stop myself from mentioning: typing "clear" in the terminal _is not necessary_ to clear it. Just tap ctrl-L. Presumably you know this but you type "clear" to be explicit for the viewers, but... as a long-time sufferer of severe RSI, it _literally_ pains me to watch you type 6 keys (including ENTER) where 2 will do. _Please_ consider switching from "clear" to ctrl-L. 🤓
