If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press? BE HONEST.”

I would like to suggest but they are certain conditions of mine (1) There are no Security Cameras inside the room (2)There should be no checking after a prisoner had got his number. (3)Every prisoner should have a small blade with them My stategy is the following The first prisoner should go and make hole in each 1 to 10 boxes and see if his number is there not there ok, Next, go to 100 to 90 boxes same process not there fine, next 40 to 50 boxes not there fine next 20 to 30 boxes there will be a high chance of obtaining his number but he must be careful not to open the boxes after making the hole and if he gets his number in the first shot he should do the hole to another 49 boxes ok after his job and obtaining his number The second prisoner comes he should find out which boxes have holes in them if he finds his number in those boxes but he should wait and make a hole in the next 50 boxes and fond his number if he has found and go The next prisoners should look in all the boxes without opening them can they find their numbers and be freed for the common good.

This reminds me of that ted -ed riddle where the manager of your music band kept all your instruments in sealed boxes; with the picture of the an instrument on the box. The strategy you as a drummer came up with was to go to your box first and remove that instrument and then go to the box with the instrument on it . And you will find it eventually

<<@Sammi-m1g
says :
They leave it EXACTLY as they FOUND it, which means if the first 1 finds theirs and LEAVES IT as he FOUND IT there would be 50 boxes lifted and if the 2nd guy's number isn't one of the opened boxes he can open the other 50 and everyone else's numbers would be available right there, and even if the 2nd guy's number is there he can still open 49 and take his, leaving just one box for the 3rd guy to open and if it's his he takes it and if it isn't he looks at the open ones and takes it, so then the chances of them being free are now 50, and it's not breaking the rules.

Your variables and questions suck! Humans do NOT match math problems meaning a variable as in them strategizing is meaningless. We don’t have the same memory of the plan and we don’t all act the same as is listening to the plan and following through, 3…. Nerves. You cannot count them in but it fucks with the outcome. Therefore these questions are so off base it’s just for reference purposes. There is no mathematic argument. It’s different everytime. Why all you math people stretch the truth to match your argument is hysterical! Cherry picking at its finest. Math doesnt make you smarter. It gives you structure and patience. Oh and a head so big it’s funny how dumb yall become. Focusing sheer attention on factual numbers and outcomes but adding life to them cannot happen. So please be smarter and change your approaches and make better arguments. Just because you guys make it harder and harder doesn’t make you smarter and smarter. You end up losing abilities if perspective and therefore become less relevant and purposed.

Factually impossible to find the same grain of sand. It would never happen. But you seem to have really vague and dumb variables in your questions, like the strategy aspect? Null. It wouldn’t ever matter. They do what humans do and forget or stray away.

There is actually a very better way to do this lets take an example Step 1 - Start with YOUR number box Prisoner #7 opens Box 7 first. Step 2 - Follow the treasure map Inside Box 7 is a slip saying "43". Now open Box 43. Inside Box 43 is a slip saying "19". Now open Box 19. Keep following the numbers like a treasure hunt. Step 3 - You'll eventually find yourself Eventually, you'll open a box containing slip "7" → Success! lot of u might wonder why this needs to work i hav an explanation for that also The random shuffle creates chains/loops: Example Chain: 7 → 43 → 19 → 82 → 7 (back to start) This is a 4-box loop. Important Fact: If you start at your own number box, you're guaranteed to be on the loop containing your slip. ✅ When They Win: They ALL win if NO loop is longer than 50 boxes. Why? Because if your slip is in a loop of length 30, you'll find it in exactly 30 tries (following the chain). But if your slip is in a loop of length 75, you'd need 75 tries → but you're limited to 50 → you fail. THE MATH With 100 boxes: About 31% of shuffles have all loops 50 or shorter About 69% have at least one loop longer than 50 So: Random guessing → 0.000...% chance Chain strategy → 31% chance

Rules to win this game is so easy that everyone would only need to go once 1. Everyone goes in and opens their box so 50 opens box number 50 then leaves the room after everyone did they will line up by witch number they found in the box not their number so if 50 found 1 he would be the first in line and boom everyone know witch box their number is in without checking all 50 boxes each and with zero communication

Bro i think i get it. If the prisoners are rounded up and killed instantly after one doesnt find his number then if the first guy enters and chooses boxes 1-50 and everyone is alive, it means he found it. So the next guy goes and chooses 50-100 so that he has a higher chance. AND THEN THE NEXT GUY HAS A 50% CHANCE AND THEN THE NEXT GUY HAS A HIGHER CHANCE. I didnt do the maths but MAYBE that goes to a third. so like 50/100 then 50/99 and then 50/98 and then 50/96? I might be so wrong bro edit: im onto nothing

A very interesting corollary is what the probability is that the very first prisoner is able to tell everyone else that they will all live. It comes down to whether the first prisoner is in a box cycle of exactly 50. If they are, then they know that everyone else in that cycle will also find their number, and any other cycles cannot be longer than 50 because there are only 50 numbers remaining that aren't in that first cycle.

@Veritasium Before Thinking about my method, take a screenshot given in the videos with the order number 1 to 100 And it's number in. Then get started:- The prisoner labeled each numbers going in the room . He must open their own number 1st then he check the number in it after that he goes for the number in that 1st opend box, open the box see the num-> go for that labeled num & open the box then see ..... after repeating this method everyone will find their own number within 50 chances. I tried I found it every number ❤😊

I’m going to guess the strategy without seeing the video, but I would say that a prisoner could take their number from their box, then swap the entire box with the box in the first spot… then each succeeding prisoner do exact this in the order that they don their number. This way each turn successively increases their odds in the next iteration as compared with the last. By the 100th prisoner, he’s got like 100% chance of getting his box.
