Nice case, I really don't want another Pi with those stupid little hdmi sockets and as soon as I'm done setting up my Pi4 as local data server for calender, contacts, notes and mobile photos I will surely find a reason to order a Pi5 with this case 🙂 Thank you for the comment on the fan, I really hate fan noise but this sounds like it will be acceptable

I find it so annoying that in these times of technology advancement, we still see companies providing only USB2.0 on their products! It is ridiculous! Everything should now come with minimum USB3.0 and USB-C by default. USB2.0 is a relic similar to the printer's parallel port and the serial port!

I am about to stop buying all Argon products for now and in the future because of the lack of help! The product which I need help with is the Argon One v5 . The first attempts at getting the front 3.5mm jack and USB connect enabled failed. Looking at the config..txt , notice the dtoverlay sting under the [cm5] header not the [all] head. In your small user guide the placement was not explained and only know about this information through Google searches .The first two attempts were done using the script download site. Each attempt at using the script generated an ERROR which seems to say that rpi eeprom was unwriteable.. Then I uninstalled the script and attempted two manual installs through the LX Terminal which generated an error message which said that the config.txt was not writable. I am inexperienced in using terminal but I do not understand why I can not overwrite the config.txt file and save.

Did you have to activate the fan via software at all, or is it automatically working from the start on the V5 case?

I bought this case and I am very disappointed. After you put the thermalpads on and put the Raspi into the case, the Raspi only gets screwed down on ONE side. See at 6:51 The other side of the Raspi lifts up a up because nothing pushes the thermalpads down. In my opinion this is a major design flaw of this case. I would not recommend this case. And I dislike the glossy finish of the lower part of the case. I regret my buy. Just my 2 cents.

I have an Argon V3 that is a smaller and a little bit more struggle to get together. But what I would like you to look at is a CM5 with board. It would get you about the same building size but with external antenna and more options of storage.

Excellent video - as usual. Much appreciated. Question: bought the double version and installed one original Raspberrypi NVMe. But the speed is only 417.36 MB/sec. Looks like Gen 2.0 for PCIe. How can I set it to Gen 3.0? Any hint?

I love the rapsberry pi sbcs... I really do, but I will never ever forgive them for forcing those ghastly micro-hdmi ports on us. Having to purchase cases costing half as much as the unit itself is on another level of mind boggling wonder.... This is so interesting though.

The NEO is still a great compact option, but the USB hub, DAC, dual NVMe support, full size HDMI, and microSD card access make this thing way more practical for day-to-day desktop usage.

<<@joelee24

I’ve one complaint about the case, the power switch easily jammed and stuck, especially when I repeatedly changed the NVMe for testing. It was partly Pi to blame for the tiny power switch design, and the case design did not adapt well to that, so that I got random hangs and not powered on during use.

The only thing it needs is a built in UPS. Maybe something that functions with or without a LiFePo battery (or a capacitor) that allows for a safe shutdown when main power is lost.

Third party cases are really great. I just got a Flirc case for my PI5 and it's so nice to see my PI5 running nice and cool and not melting itself down at 80'+ unless I run that awful stock fan. While this one does look a bit chonky, it is quite a nice bit of kit. Maybe another upgrade someday...

Just out of interest. How does this compare to something like a M710q for about the same money ? If a desktop Pc running linux is the goal, it seems that a more upgradeable mini PC might be a better option ? I do like the look of this case for the Pi, and to me, a decent alu case to keep it cool is worth its weight in gold. I run a nanoPi R6C as a KODI/prime video box on my ancient TV, and it is never anything more that cold to the touch, except on the occasional emulation of PS2 or Sega saturn.

Just picked up an Argon ONE V5 case based on your review, and I am very impressed with it. I also picked up the OLED display which shows CPU temp as one of its options. So far it hasn't gone over 45C despite pushing it hard. I now need to dig out a spare M.2 card and shift the Ubuntu OS over from the SD card to really put it through its paces, but I think this will be a good option for those looking for a fast, cheap mini PC on a budget.
