Taft was also made a Mason at sight. Meaning a Grandmaster made him a Mason by decree essentially.

I like how taft's story is about a kid who dreamed to be on the supreme court, and the whole universe decided to give him every job possible.

It's amazing how unbelievably awful Taft's successor, Woodrow Wilson, was. Wilson's complete mishandling of Europe's wars shows Wilson had a God complex. Nearly every problem in today's world can be traced back to that. We should never have gotten involved in WWI!

I think it's unfair to put Taft in a 'worst Presidents list'. Whilst he didn't do as much as Roosevelt, he didn't start a war (Like James Buchanan), get impeached (Like Andrew Johnson), have allegations of corruption (Like Warren Harding), be responsible for a global recession (Like Herbert Hoover), resort to under hand dealings (Like Richard Nixon) or even allow personal prejudices to cloud his judgement (Like Woodrow Wilson). I see him as an adequate president. Done his bit, but happy to fade into obscurity.

<<@cpklapper
says :
I disagree with Taft’s siting of the United States Supreme Court building; I have long held that the USSC building should have been located at intersection of NJ and NY Avenues, the most obvious location given L’Enfant’s street design and the implication of the Avenue design element in Hauptmann’s urban design of Paris, as well as to represent the USSC as a separate but coequal branch of government. As presently situated it appears as a useless appendage to the Congress, hardly an improvement over its previous location.

Very enjoyable! But but but...what about the FED? Jacob "This is war" Schiff failing to convince Taft to approve the FED? The Titanic sinking Taft's right hand man Archie Butt and the power players who opposed the FED? Woody Wilson who couldn't WAIT to approve the FED? A dark story, indeed.

No, women were allowed to vote in the US provided they met the requirements of owning property. Not all men were allowed to vote in those days without meeting requirements. Victoria Woodhull even ran for president of the US prior to Suffrage. This myth of women not being allowed to vote needs to go away.
