The spirit becomes dysfunctional along with the body at death and the righteous soul leaves the body for the heaven along with the record of all the memories of lifetime deeds to rest there in peace and comfort till it will be reunited with the body on the day of judgement for entrance to the heaven to live there eternally in physical form as the final reward. Heart, after survival, desires hedonistic pleasure. Mind desires status and power. Soul desires worship, or a God to worship. These wills often conflict creating an unhealthy internal envirnonment. Gehenna in Hebrew was a place or valley of Hinnom or valley of dead with bones. The soul and the spirit are joined together, but the soul is the mind or intellect, the will, and the emotions. The heart is the core or center of man's being, it is the belly. The spirit of man is located in his heart or belly. The soul seems to be a bit more difficult to locate, because we feel things in our heart, but reason and imagine in our head. Maybe someone smarter than I can further discover what the Bible has given us on this line.
