But Politic is a dirty game. No one likes Authoritarian. Restricted many creative ideas and freedom to express. Example: Chinese language and talented Singaporean left Singapore>> <<@_xBrokenxDreamsx_ says : Over the course of several decades, Singapore has carried out a few hundred executions, while at the same time supporting a population of millions that lives in one of the world’s wealthiest and safest societies.>> <<@NicolasD414 says : This is how impressive LKY is. Charlie Munger is widely regarded as one of the greatest investors of the 20th century, not just for his personal returns but for his profound influence on the investment world. In an interview, he said he has 2 busts in his house. 1st is Benjamin Franklin and the 2nd is Lee Kuan Yew. That right there tells you alot about LKY.>> <<@HoangNguyen61783 says : Lee Kuan Yew provided critical, pragmatic support to the United States during the Vietnam War by acting as a staunch anti-communist voice in Southeast Asia, providing logistical facilities for U.S. forces, and advocating that American presence bought time for neighboring nations to strengthen their own economies and resilience against communism. Lets not forget he supported the Pol pot regime.>> <<@jac23538 says : Leaders around the world should modeled LKW as an example . prioritize long-term viability rather than short-term popularity>> <<@beyourself2444 says : Lee Kuan Yew is my political great man and I am not even from Asia. As a Caribbean person, he is the man I look toward when I see true patriotism.>> <<@jfarrell9915 says : uk needs a lky lookalike to reinvent itself............>> <<@inomooshekki says : individualism freedom got your kids killed in schools. just saying>> <<@TheGuidedGenius says : I would say LKY is on the levels of Washington in leadership and importance to their respective nations>> <<@ismadaan says : I just finished his book and honestly, I can’t think of many leaders with Lee Kuan Yew’s level of wisdom, ingenuity, and grit. If he were Western, the narrative machine might have turned him into a near mythic figure. Instead, because he didn’t bend to Western pressure or approval, he’s often boxed into simplistic labels like “dictator.” Whatever one thinks of his methods, the results are undeniable - transforming Singapore from third world to first world within a generation is extraordinary. I hope Singaporeans truly appreciate how rare that leadership was.>> <<@Nofilter34 says : I don't see him as a leader. I see him as a father. The father of every Singaporean. Stern, strict, and with love.>> <<@MizusawaMao0 says : WTF i know that place from the thumbnail>> <<@thebookwaswaybetter2827 says : It sounds like Lee took the “do what must be done” approach to get his country out of an unsalvageable state But I think the lesson here is that this method isn’t sustainable>> <<@hanullee8166 says : There is nothing controversial about him. He is just an anomaly in the best sense of the word. If Machiavelli had lived long enough to see all the kings and dictators of our times, Lee Kuan Yew would be his poster child, the true embodiment of the "prince">> <<@PJM1879 says : Lee Kuan Yew is a rare and divinely ordained soul. What he did with a bare island is no ordinary man’s feat! Words cannot do justice to his life’s accomplishments.>> <<@Itthew says : He’s only controversial from a western point of view . I don’t think Singaporeans themselves would find him controversial.>> <<@DavoPJR says : Controversial? ………I’ve not watched this video. Given Singapore history, it was either success or perish!>> <<@bottlethrower1544 says : God I despise this loathesome bald toad>> <<@nickschwaller3154 says : Controversial? Where? Not in Singapore, I can tell you that much. Only a very few world leaders of 20th Century has that distinction.>> <<@Beyond-130-IQ says : Ahahaha you weren't allowed to say he did it through captalism.>> <<@SublimeIsrael says : Inspiration of a man. Listen to him.>> <<@michaellovinon3467 says : This video is Westerners trying to put a western understanding into eastern politics>> <<@Xanatos_Clutch says : LKW proves what a lot of populists who can't see beyond their pathetic and feeble ethnic identities don't want to believe. That civic nationalism with skilled immigrants under a multiracial monocultural society works. This is a concept that has seldomly been genuinely tried throughout the world. Along with Singapore, I can only think of The UAE, Switzerland, and to a lesser degrees, Canada, The UK, Yugoslovia, and New Zealand adopting this philosophy. And ironically, Malaysia is starting to follow Singapore's blueprint in its recent economic rise. Rest in Power, Lee Kwan Yew.>> <<@rontza07 says : Very good and interesting video. However, I have also read in the internet that some of his actions or decisions may be considered "draconian" and "authoritarian" in another perspective. Regarding this, I have genuine and hypothetical question: "If Mr. Lee Kuan Yew did the same actions he did, both the good and the bad, but these resulted to a poor and perhaps highly corrupt Singapore instead of the current Singapore, how would the people judge him then, especially by Singaporeans?" This is a question I had after reading some opinions of people of him online. This is not meant to offend someone😅 and is meant to just satisfy my curiosty hehehe. Thank you and I give all my admiration respect to Singapore and its people.>> <<@pc0202 says : Key thing for Singapore’s success is that he never used the national machine for personal gain, everything is set up for public good and he made sure that this culture would seep into every institution in Singapore. No dictators nor most democratic leaders can say that for themselves.>> <<@peteperic5822 says : What a shitty way to try biographies*>> <<@eheaAlbuoshi says : ما أجمل أن تضع البسمه على وجه من شاهدت الضلمه ولم ترى نور الشمس الا من خلالكم أنتم الضياء والشمس والقمر بعد خذلان الاهل والصديق والرفيق وجذت من نصرني ووضع البسمه التي فقدتها بوزنها وثقلها الكلمات عجزت والقلم عجز عن نشكركم شكرا لكم أحرار العالم>> <<@eheaAlbuoshi says : اهلا للقيم والأخلاق>> <<@wchen6026 says : Typical Anglo-Saxon media type of summarization. Anything that is different than western democracies is considered "controversial". Each country and region have their own culture, history, people etc. Borrowing one western model of democracies, without adaption to its own environment, is disastrous. Lee understood what was and would be best for Singapore, and history has proven his visions right.>> <<@broondjongen says : Lee Kuan Yew treated Singapore like a stern father to his only son>> <<@bn8418 says : Chill out with the smug colonial tone over glaze & get to the point bud>>
