As a clerk I had to walk all over the building with files. I became a master escalator user. The hand I rail can be pulled if you want to put fear in the rest of the people riding. I could time my mounting and dismounting without watching. I watched a fellow worker get his rubber boot get jammed in the space between the stationary side and the moving step. The escalator stop before any harm was done.
