As a boy, he admired the history of America before colonization, he admired the land of America more than the society. This is why he is America's poet. He was stubborn in his infancy and it allowed him to keep the child within him alive as he began to understand and appreciate society more through the calamities of the Civil War. What's more is that he did not find success when he came with his childlike pure art. He had to make a deal with the devil and write from his evil side in order to grab the eyes of Americans. But, the means justify the ends. He didn't take his fortune from the third edition and let it inflate his desires. He rather focused on the needs of his fellow Americans who made him so wealthy. That is the American spirit. He is one of the most teachable artists to learn about. For me, I can relate very much. Might have to do with the fact I grew up in Hauppauge, lol.>> <<@nigel_saxon says : "Here lies-- Walt Whitman? WAHAHAH!!!! Damn you, Walt Whitman! I... hate... you, Walt... freakin'... Whitman!
