Fun fact: She was homeschooled most of her life because in her youth she was sickly. Because of her fathers status she had access to countless books, and like her husband was an avid reader.

Hold on Simon! When John embarked to France on the Boston, he took along John Quincy only and not Charles. This at least is my understanding based on David McCullough's book, "John Adams" Who is right here? Charles, as I understood remained with Abigail and later tutors when Abigail left to join John in France.

Fun fact, Braintree still actually exists! Quincy simply broke off and formed its own town and the two towns largely view each other roughly the same way New Yorkers and Bostonians view one another. This coming from a lifetime Braintree resident!

I had no idea that John and Abigail lost a son to alcoholism. I’m 31 and almost a year sober from drink now and wasn’t expecting a reminder like that in a video like this. Usually I’m just thankful for Simon and the content but was a little extra for me personally. It’s a reminder that I’m happy to be alive and sober today. Thanks.

She was a real jerk. Both her and her husband self perceived superiority were legand. They both penned enough letters were you know who they are. We take alot for granted. If Adam's would have had his way America would resemble the town from footloose. Thier stance on slavery was displayed more as way to claim the moral highground but actually doing anything about it? These people would not spit on you if you were on fire.

You know, it never surprises but always disappoints me how when it comes to historical figures (or certain historical figures), something that quacks and waddles and swims and flies can't be called a duck. Abigail Adams was an asshole; self-righteous, arrogant and disaffected. Simon's desire to dance around or justify this is not uncommon but disappointing.
