These are all things that I could, with my limited resources, do myself - maybe referring back from time to time to the video that originally gave me the idea to try them. I like the larger SBC projects you take on but to a lesser extent since I don't think that i could afford the expensive board and peripherals that you use in them. I hope that this information gives you some indication, with other comments you may have received, as to what your viewers like to watch. I know this video is a bit older now, but I just wanted to say I appreciate you giving us some insight into the channel. Im a new subscriber with no experience in running a YT channel, but since you asked (lol), here are my 2 cents (pence?): I really respect your commitment to staying independent. Ironically, that is the reason I would trust you to feature sponsors without conflicts of interest. Also, if you don't already have one, a patreon could be a great way to bring in some resources for your channel and connect more with your more dedicated viewers!>> <<@fattomandeibu says : I think computing channels are, or were at least, all seeing a decline in viewership recently. I personally think ideas of showing retro computing, particularly more unique systems like the Sinclair QL will be very interesting to see. The A1200 one won't be interesting to me in that aspect, but seeing Workbench 3 in action(with and without NewIcons etc.) would definitely be great, as would seeing things such as Wordsworth, DPaint and any games you might have on hand. I grew up on one of those and still have a ton of floppy disks as well as a mountain of Amiga Format cover CDs. As for hoarding, I don't I have as much as yourself, but I have the habit of never throwing out anything that still works, as who knows, it may come in handy. Even my old C64 and all the tapes are still there. ...I also wish they still sold those amazing beige boxes that you have your editing computer in.>> <<@ygjt76v0----- says : Your personality and style very unique sir, also have british accent>> <<@chrishuston4445 says : Thanks!>> <<@MrMr-ti6rl says : I think I needed to comment on why people haven't been watching for months. I have subscribed at the highest level for a number of years, but thought you weren't producing content as frequestly, as the YouTube reminders have been few and far between for this last year or more. As you supected in the update (or am I reading between the lines), by not accepting ads within your videos, Google has demoted the notifications that I previously received. In regard to content, I enjoyed SBC at first but after a while I found there were too many and a little above my skill level. I found upgrading an old PC was of interest, even though I've built all but my very first computer myself, a 486. Software (Backup software and free Win 10 software interests me) also Linux is of interest to me. I really appreciate the professional quality of everything you produce. P.S. I don't mind ads within a video as long as they are appropriately placed. Keep up the excellent work, I greatly appreciate your content and always learn something.>> <<@eyreland says : == Atlantic OCEAN TSUNAMI // New Madrid Rift Coming === Issue 774; August 1, 2021 "Wave#2 Anticipation" The ... predicted that the big New Madrid Adjustment would happen by the end of 2021 or shortly thereafter in early 2022. They stated that ahead of this big adjustment there would be predecessor adjustments that would come in waves. Wave#1 occurred on May 8 when the Colonial Pipeline was forced to close where it crosses the Mississippi River and a truss on the I-40 bridge to Memphis snapped. Following that we had a refinery explode at the Ohio River headwaters, then a DC pedestrian bridge collapse and the SurfSide condo collapse. The SE Portion of the US cannot move and is poised to rip off. The emission maps showed the tension in the SE Portion on June 5. Then the tension shifted to the Gulf of Mexico when a buoy throbbed for a day on July 8 along the path from the Pemex gas field explosion to New Orleans. This happened simultaneously to a major water main break at Jackson, MS. The next day a cruise ship went aground in Kentucky while cruising the Cumberland River. The river bottom had shifted. If Wave#1 focused on the SE Portion of the US to the EAST of the Mississippi River what will happen to that portion of the US to the WEST of the Mississippi River? On that same day, July 8, a massive quake swarm on the California/Nevada border began. Notably, SO2 and CO emissions from rock shifting began to focus on western Canada, which sustained a crane collapse in BC. Confirmation 7/31/2021: As was noted when the Pemex gas field exploded in an underwater eruption, and as we have stated since the start of the 7 of 10 Plate Movements, the New Madrid Adjustment will start its unzipping in Mexico. Draw a line from the Mexico City/Pemex region to New Orleans and this line passes through the current active buoy location. This is very significant as this will soon destabilize the continental US near and above New Orleans. That the lowlands near Jackson, MS are shifting in step with the buoy warnings is not a surprise. Beyond these signs that the rock in the western 2/3 of the N American Plate is shifting toward the Pacific are the signs of unease in the US and Russian governments. Hal Turner reports a rumor that filling station chains have been warned there will be a gasoline shortage soon, so the next delivery of gasoline might be their last.>> <<@mc10guru says : Ahoy Chris, I found you because I'm a total SBC nerd. You are my favorite Youtube provider. Keep up the good work and THANK YOU for no ads. As for less viewers remember that 2020 was the big year of Covid 19. With everyone stuck at home they were watching and trying new vids. Now that we had the 1st half of 2021 with more freedom I'm sure views are down for all. Thanks again from my RPi 4B running fast at 2Ghz with a Sandisk Z400 SSD. DaveyB>> <<@j.rayscott4681 says : Love the channel. A suggestion for a video. Your product reviews are great. When you get to doing the performance benchmarks, you always have a selection of performance monitoring tools. How about a video dedicated just to the various tools you use? I wanted to do some testing myself and remembered you had done some test but, I couldn't remember what the test was or which video it was. Of course, I didn't mind re-watching several of the reviews! ;-)>> <<@joanantonllarchpoyo2837 says : Chris, You are the third creator I follow that I listen saying is losing views. The only reason I have had a Linux distro and Raspberry Pi in my life is because of your great work on Explaining Computers. I hope the channel can remain in it's current format - entertaining, interesting and very much real world informative. (e.g. Windows 11 Good, Bad and very Ugly). However, if there is a push to keep ratings/views on the increase, could you maybe do a nostalgia series on old Sci-Fi series or movies. Would love to see a DIY set on how to build O.R.A.C from Blakes 7. That would be a great computer laying around the house - give Siri and Google a run for their money. Not sure if Holly from Red Dwarf would get a starting position, but would be interesting to see how far the current AI platforms could replicate Holly. How easy is it to write a software programme for practical jokes - especially Queek, pure genius. How about a everyday Raspberry Pi Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy- hand held portable device that is not a smart phone. Finally I would just like to say, thank you Chris for your candour and your great content! It feels that you are talking just to us on a one to one basis - very personal.
