They still think of gravity as a force. Even most of the people trying to reconcile QM with GR will never get anywhere because what they actually doing it trying to reconcile it with Newtonian gravity. You can tell them "Gravity isn't a force" and the response will be "I know, but....". Trying to calculate forces isn't going to get you anywhere on this problem.
