<<@ruler_of_the_grey_fog says : Can someone tell how you can guess all 4 hats... Like sure B knows his is opposite color as that of C but what then . How would he knows the colour of A and D since either of them can be black or white>> <<@AnthonyRobert-b1q says : Question should have contacted that these guys know that there are two white and two black hats>> <<@Sandor_Elvin says : B, person a sees that there is a black and white hat in front of him, he doesn’t want to risk getting it wrong, so he stays quiet, telling person b that him and person c has different hat colors, and since he can see the white hat in front of him, he says the opposite color: Black setting everyone free>> <<@rowsanali-h8b says : 1st time I got a riddle right>> <<@Zakaria1991 says : The presenter did not mention that the guys buried know that there is two black hats and two white hats. Misleading communication Cool dude>> <<@Anon-x3 says : Hate it every time this happens to me 🙄>> <<@aubreyn688 says : Ez>> <<@Louis-iu8cf says : I thought the wind blew A's hat in front of b>> <<@阿楷_ken_NTCU says : You should’ve started with they all knew 2 white 2 black>> <<@AdrianBrown123-g8x says : I don't understand>> <<@BlueEgg5 says : Or just look up and see the brim>> <<@jainaudiyal2189 says : If A and B match then what>> <<@ultdb1224 says : How do A and D figure out what hat they have?>> <<@ShayanAli-l1x7b says : Don't understand>> <<@TheWatchernator says : where's the add?>> <<@TheWatchernator says : A doesn't say anything because he sees something else than two same-colored hats. B hears A say nothing - so he knows his hat is black.>> <<@billybrick755 says : No, passwords aren't checked character by character.>> <<@OddWheelThriver says : So B could’ve told C what theirs was and then C could’ve just shouted white?>> <<@OddWheelThriver says : This was worded with multiple interpretations. “You” and “your” need to be distinguished from the group as a whole and myself.>> <<@Mmoll1990 says : Person A can feel how hot his hat is getting in the sunlight depending on if it's white or black.>> <<@Mmoll1990 says : I don't think this is a riddle. This is a math problem.>> <<@Woopah1210 says : I think it's B? Because if A saw 2 black hats, A would have known he was wearing a white hat. But since he didn't say anything, he must have seen a black hat and a white hat. Now, B knows that himself and C were wearing a black hat and a white hat, he saw that C's hat was white, he would know that he's wearing a black hat. Edit: I was right!>> <<@nickpatella1525 says : This is just a watered down version of the prisoners problem, without the inductive step that makes it interesting, and the part about servers checking passwords character by character is silly given how exaggerated the example is (even if the idea explained is generally applicable). I hope it doesn't suggest to anyone that storing users' passwords in plaintext is acceptable, if anything it's an example of an amateur homebrewed server gone wrong>> <<@MiroslavNovosad says : You forgot to say that the prisoners knew there were 2 colors and 2 from each>> <<@A_Lousy_Viewer says : Why can't A just tell B that B is wearing a black hat, which B will use as a correct answer?>> <<@grandexandi says : Is this part of a longer video? Because there's information missing. There are restrictions that haven't been mentioned about the amount of possible colors and the amount of same-colored hats. The logics were not well established enough for us to be able to work it out.>> <<@Alex-e9r8o says : I want to say rather a or B. But I guess I'll just have to wait a couple more seconds to find out>> <<@ActionHeinz says : And after B says his hat color, C knows his one also.>> <<@BorderlessBrainFact says : 1000 subscribers in my channel = I am GAY!!>> <<@Strikerklm96 says : I'm familiar with this puzzle, and you failed to include that "2 black and white" hats was public info. You simply stated what was the case, not that they knew that.>> <<@FrostyTeeVee says : Since A sees only one of each colour, they cannot know for sure what theirs is. B can only see a white hat in front, but since the guy behind him hasn't said anything he knows that he must be looking at both colours, leaving B with only one option. B yells out black and they all go free.>> <<@D-ql8mz says : The problem has no solution. I don't have 3 friends.>> <<@Jarrod0067 says : Pause right now It's B Unpause Yep>> <<@melanp4698 says : There are 6 possible scenarios for this. There are 2/6 outcomes where only A will be able to win: WBBW BWWB There are 4/6 outcomes where only B will be able to win: WWBB / BWBW BBWW / WBWB>> <<@lordmcted says : You're at the southern border so of course the hat on the other side is dark. Easy.>> <<@spaceherpies says : It's a logical guess.>> <<@mizeress4454 says : My initial thoughts are this: If B and C share a hat color, A immediately knows their own hat color. If A cannot answer, then we know we're in the case that B and C have opposite hat colors. So B knows that their hat is simply the opposite of whatever color hat he sees on C. I'm interpreting this as "Say your own hat color and you all go free," which may or may not be correct. Also, this plan works best if you can communicate beforehand, but technically, it could be reasoned in the moment. Edit: Hey, I got it right!>> <<@SwamiCalzi says : If the last (3rd) of the guys behind the wall talks, thats because he sees 2 hats of the same color so he can deduce that his hat is of the other color. Io he doesnt talk than the 2nd knows that the first sees hats of different colors, so his hai will be the color which is not the hat in front of him>> <<@ToddBannor says : But if they’re broad brimmed hats, they’d all be able to see their own hats.>> <<@dayzero-1x says : Hey Veritasium, I started an anonymous internet challenge online. No face. No voice. Just documenting the journey publicly while messaging creators and famous people around the world to see who notices the experiment first… and what happens next.>> <<@Netszz says : This is the first time I’ve ever fully understood a Veritasium upload.>> <<@LucciIymburner says : I thought it would be something about the colours of the hats absorbing sun rays, A sees B sweating a lot but A is relatively in better body temperature and says the color.>> <<@kyay10 says : Because of the prolonged silence, it's clear that A cannot figure out who they are. If B and C were the same hat colour, A would shout the answer immediately. Thus, B and C are different colours. B notices this, and sees that C has a white hat, thus B must have a black hat, so he shouts it out, and they all go free!>> <<@vasilymeleshko says : Откуда такой наивный взгляд на пароли? Уже много лет сервера сначала считают хеш и только потом выполняют сравнение хешей, пароли разного содержимого и длины сравниваются за одинаковое время, тема ролика - некорректна>> <<@williamnyren3980 says : B>> <<@dastoex says : This still does not mean that all the prisoners go free, since neither A nor D can deduce their hat color even after B and C are gone.>> <<@hola979 says : Can't they just talk to each other lmao. Like they can just ask each other discuss and come to a conclusion. This is pretty dumb>> <<@Pulsar_Live says : B after a minute hat is hot>> <<@WexMajor82 says : You have too much faith in average inmate's IQ.>> <<@AAAu says : Awesome 👏 Next time write a brief summary in the 3 sec countdown>>
