<<@PatSmashYT says : The highest automation level should be 2>> <<@jcuprisi says : All it will take for a city to be brought to its knees is for a group of Luddites or terrorists to stand in a few crosswalks and bring traffic to a standstill.>> <<@AdvikTekkieTalk says : Meanwhile public transport is already proven to be better than cars, AND can be automated for much cheaper and is much easier as public transport such as metro doesn't require on the spot calculations, everything is planned if you know what im trying to say>> <<@user-kv4gj9jp4h says : Why not have trams everywhere instead of these it’s a waste of money land and it’s oppression>> <<@cardluvme says : Of course it's sponsored by waymo so this is the bias review>> <<@brucelivolsi says : Humans are superbly flawed... susceptible to myriad distractions, including their phones, fatigue, hunger, pain, emotion, etc. I will trust a heartless computer on the road more than a skin bag filled with blood and bone.>> <<@tonytriche8364 says : Once you said "Sponsored by Waymo" I stopped. I want to see unbiased reports.>> <<@anstropleuton says : Veritasium vs. CGP Gray. Fight.>> <<@joeschmoe3665 says : I just came from a video debating ever having autonomous cars because they ran over things in front of them, this is dumb and useless why not just make more trains?>> <<@charlesmigneault7918 says : I despise the idea of a full automated self driving car. I have one question for anyone who thinks it's a good idea for this technology. Have you ever bought a computer that did not freeze or hang on you? I certainly never bought one despite the fact that I usually buy top of the line computers, they all end up failing, invariably, and when that happens in your office, no arme is done, but when it happens at killing speeds, then you're kind of screwed. A plane can go in every directions left, right, up, down, a car does not have those options up and down, further more a plane flying 30 thousand feet will usually not cross anything solid in it's path, the sky is a verry different place than city streets.>> <<@focusonkraft3333 says : I had an idea for a video... I was thinking about photographic memory and different states of mind caused by dreams... I would really like to see this video😁😁>> <<@4dirt2racer0 says : until computers are absolutely perfectly faultless theirs NOOOOO fn way im letting one drive me, or what about the kids, around other drivers. or even without other drivers... all it takes is a simple glitch or lag n u (n possibly other innocent ppl around u) wont ever get to let ur kid or mom or dad know u love them again yes obviously human drivers r also far from perfect, but it simply feels better being in control n at least having a chance of avoiding killing somebody or some poor thing, let alone ourselves>> <<@hamajan5886 says : I love technology and i am looking forward for more improvements but i would never support a driverless car!>> <<@arcies9286 says : Everyone calling this propaganda is braindead smh I bet they’ll all be using driverless cars in a decade or two tops>> <<@FireOfJagz says : 8:45 And people call me stupid for always backing into a parking spot lol. It makes leaving the spot much easier and safer>> <<@jmmypaddy says : @Veritasium You've let me down, this channel is no longer for science and education, but simply a mode for corporate lies through stealth.>> <<@willardsteele4857 says : I am disappointed. This video is miss leading and I have to assume it is intentionally so. Other companies are backpedaling on the technology. I am very skeptical that Waymo has a superior product or technology than their competitors. Veritasium to be fair and objective you should do an investigation of the driverless cars go wrong. There have been some horrible cases and ignoring this data is disingenuous.>> <<@kephalopod3054 says : Find another job: truck drivers, bus drivers, cab drivers.>> <<@HetPatel-bh1dh says : 15:26 how does someone run into a stationary car???>> <<@HetPatel-bh1dh says : 1:09 Derek says that he likes the car didnt turn into the other cars Did he think it would have?>> <<@rajnagi6056 says : Nice Propaganda video 😂 how much did they pay you?>> <<@Leftoftheslash says : There's probably someone in a conex box somewhere driving it with a joystick.>> <<@MS-60663 says : This tech would also eliminate most of the road rage incidents, like brake-checking and deliberately trying to cause someone to crash. But the dark side is that this new tech will take millions of dollars from the auto-repair industry, as well as the tow truck services. Like it or not, the consequences of auto accidents puts billions of dollars into other people's pockets. And the scary bottom line is that those 40,000 American drivers who died also represented a significant movement of monies, through insurance, funeral costs, and medical/legal and emergency services. All industries that rely on pain, suffering, property damage and death to make a paycheck are not going to find this very beneficial for their bottom-line. They will secretly try to undermine this new tech for that reason. Human suffering = big bucks. Healthy humans, smart humans, happy humans, balanced and law abiding humans = broke principalities, jurisdictions and cities.>> <<@CountFisco says : Rare L>> <<@quicksesh says : Jeezus ... not even the biggest automakers are saying that the technology is mature enough to deployed. So what I am trying to say politely, you were in a 'controlled' environment that was 'rigged' to give the results that your sponsor wanted to get out to the world ... ie a steaming heap of bovine excrement has landed. BTW I read their safety brief .. it really doesn't show much good data (ie independently verified and with proper case studies) but was actually written like a prospectus for investors.>> <<@danielschroeder8546 says : Planes category 3 autoland only works on category 3 Airports. So of course self driving cars would work better if the roads had sensors too.>> <<@ambiarock590 says : We do need self driving vehicles, just put them on rails, add many more seats and doors, and call them trains.>> <<@guillaumepreudhomme4800 says : It’s not a safety concern. It’s an economical concern. Bus and cab drivers would all lose their jobs if we switched to automatic vehicles.>> <<@Hunter_Bidens_Crackpipe_ says : Hardcore shilling from the shillmaster>> <<@benjaminhoffman3848 says : The biggest issue is the autonomy people lose when anybody with an internet connection can take your car from you. The government can just say you have deviant views and shutdown your car.>> <<@4verse79 says : get humans off steering wheels now! all of them. btw: there was autonomous driving in the 80s already. knight rider ...>> <<@philstraszynski5214 says : Isnt it time to add an update to this video .. what went wrong>> <<@TheBoeboe says : 17:30 you can. Its called trains and busses>> <<@strategystuff5080 says : Driverless Cars, how about better infrastructure? Any idea how much hilariously inefficient cars are in urban environments? Its such a meme.>> <<@user-wk7lm5gk6x says : WOW so amazing..I'm so proud me All people good technology.. bless you all>> <<@maciejd7823 says : It's not about trusting the car when sitting inside. It's about trusting the car as a pedestrian or bicycle rider.>> <<@Nono-hk3is says : The statistic that 94% of accidents are caused by human error is irrelevant, and citing it as an argument in favor of driver automation is scare mongering! It tells me nothing about how many accidents there were, and more importantly, nothing about how many accidents there will be if the cars are automated. You get what you measure: in year X, 94% of accidents are caused by humans. In year Y, only 1% are caused by human! Amazing, we did it, folks! If we focus on this statistic, It's irrelevant that in year X the total number of accidents was 100,000 but in year Y there were 500,000 accidents.>> <<@Nono-hk3is says : Your credibility is irrevocably damaged by this video.>> <<@robertfox4114 says : So where are we now, where are the self driving cars? I started disliking this video more after those years.>> <<@sciencehistoryandentertain734 says : LMAO this video was an epic fail 2 years later...>> <<@roscoecoltrane9523 says : This is just a big Waymo commercial. This is borderline clickbait.>> <<@AdInfinitumest says : Unsubscribed from Vertasium due to this unbalanced, poorly researched, sponsored content. Trust is hard earned and easily lost.>> <<@thomasslone1964 says : a machine with one tenth the human ability to avoid accidents will still have one tenth the accidents a human would>> <<@vinh7889 says : First they want electric now they want us to not even drive anymore 😂>> <<@IEJ7654321 says : They already exist. Its called trains. BTW Waymo cars are everywhere in the Phoenix metro area. Chandler Tempe and Scottsdale are the areas you will see them most. They drive electric Jaguar SUVs and most of the time there is no driver in the front seat.>> <<@user-qo4ez7uo2f says : Actually technology is still 10 years behind; bcz lidars are not cheap & computation is there but if you pay 2-3x of normal car🤷>> <<@meh9607 says : I do not trust the people making driverless cars, I do not trust the people using driverless cars, and in general it seems like a pointless option compared to just more trains and buses>> <<@petterlarsson7257 says : please delete this video>> <<@TheNemocharlie says : Comparing elevators to vehicles is disingenuous at best. Nice and for Waymo though, if you overlook the all-in-price of $300,000 per vehicle.>> <<@rerun3283 says : Dont tell me what i should want driving near me.>>
