Pompey the great cleanup artist. Managed by Sulla. Metellus Pius and Lucillus did the real work in Spain and Turkey. Claimed credit for Crassus victory over Spartacus. Finally ran into real opposition with Caesar and dithered.

Up next;John J Pershing
@TheRealForgetfulElephant Says:
3:14 This is slightly misleading as Spartacus’ forces had split as well. Half went North to try and break out of Italy (defeated by Crassus I think) and the other half went south to sail out of Italy (defeated by Pompey I think)
@juliaberger1256 Says:
which sources did you use?
@Ken_Scaletta Says:
Somebody should have said something to him about that haircut. I bet it was Caesar who told him to get it.

Pompey was not assassinated in Alexandria. It was at Pelusium, on the eastern side of the Nile Delta.

Pompey The Great: A Fantastic Life & Career ended by a Kingdom he helped out & thought would do the same. The Ptolemy's made a bad choice. They should've just captured him instead

One of those historical What Ifs? if Pompey had beaten Caesar, held off to be more careful and cautious in his attack and actually won…. Would the Republic have held on? How long would Rome have remained a republic?

I had no idea Pompey had that much history behind his name, genuinely makes me angrier with egypt having him assassinated, imagine how things could of turned out, pompey to me was about the only person in the world who could stand against cesar.

@matthewwhitton5720 Says:
Have you already covered Ned Kelly , Simon ?…His literary musings ( the Geraldine letter / anti-Protestant, Irish nationalist manifesto ) and extraordinary, armoured battle with dozens of Victorian colonial police would make a marvelous retelling. Not to mention Johnny Cash’s superb musical tribute to Ned.

For all those who haven't heard of Pompey before... HE WAS A CONSUL OF ROME!!!
@johnlansing2902 Says:
Poor or great all die .
@Nikephorus Says:
Pompey feels overrated to me. He defeated a bunch of pirates and took credit for defeating Sparticus when Crassus was mostly responsible. Soon as he faced Caesar he got his ass handed to him even though he had all the advantages at that battle. More men, better supplied army, better position on the battlefield.
@fartakiss9595 Says:
It still amazes me how many formidable people where born just from the birth of Guias Marious to the death of Augustus
