Why do we launch rockets from Florida?

????

I always thought Florida seemed like a terrible place to launch anything from.

Missing another major reasoning: Minimum flight path interruption. It's crazy how much an effect it ends up having worldwide if a launch gets delayed into the afternoon
@jonash5320 Says:
I thought it was to show Cuba whos boss and that we havent forgotten
@iFUCKINGp Says:
poor fish 🚀
@ecidragon Says:
So can you make the video on why we launch rockets in Vanderburgh
@dkeviv83 Says:
As if only Florida is moving towards east. Entire earth rotates from west to east. And Florida is not the only coastal state. Really? These are the two good reason?
@tippuu008 Says:
If i have been filming the video there, my phone would have die out due to 🌧️
@gurnblanstein9816 Says:
The first reason made no sense at all. You have the same velocity whether you're on the East Coast or the West Coast. The second reason made a whole lot of sense lol
@Krishyadav6668 Says:
Derek is getting old
@mitulsurani5635 Says:
Hmmm didn’t know Florida moved faster then rest of the world …
@gaithouri Says:
to wash out the Florida man embarrassment ..
@Ah-sun Says:
Actually, the other reason is gravity is weaker the closer u r to the equator
@oidbio2565 Says:
Dude…I’ve had the same question forever! Ahhhhh…..feels good to finally know! Thanks! And it makes a lot of sense too. Lol

Why not texas? Or Louisiana? Or Alabama? You didnt fully answer
@austinhernandez2716 Says:
And it's very flat, stable land
@aminmakhlouf1247 Says:
"We" ? Think you mean they since u arent involved lol
@travroy Says:
I'm sorry, the ground in Florida moves faster than other states?
@SnugWugs137 Says:
Gravity.
@brentonellis213 Says:
It just occurred to me that every rocket launch pushes Earth by just a minute amount.
@antonio3602 Says:
The closer to the Equator, the better.
@SpottedSharks Says:
Locating the space center in Florida also secured key votes in Congress for NASA.
@WillyGonutz Says:
I was thinking about this with regard to that asteroid that is meant to go through in 2032 (Apophis, I think). If it's going to hit, Do they know if it's going to be a head-on collision,... or more like getting rear-ended in traffic. Also, does hitting the planet WITH the rotation make s difference?
@finnmcool1892 Says:
Kinda look like Elon
@BenjamminFranklin-zj4yf Says:
So: 1. Florida is close to the equator 2. Florida is surrounded of water on 3 sides
@woutpersyn3744 Says:
And being close to the equator
@thevisionary2007 Says:
Florida is basically America's diving board!
@davidsneddon6412 Says:
🤯🤯 at the fact that the earth gives the rocket a boost
@davidcottrell8551 Says:
@spirostravlos3801 Says:
however, the truth is that no one has yet launched a rocket from the south pole to see if the advantages of launching from the equator really apply (although I saw somewhere that gravity is not the same in all parts of the earth. its intensity may be higher at the equator and lower at the poles) or vice versa.
@emilk5656 Says:
That is also where they launch their helium balloons from
@deftermedia Says:
why not launch from Guam or Hawaii?
@jonmcalister1802 Says:
Also, Florida is better than Virginia or Maine because that speed is higher close to the Equator. That’s why the ESA launches from French Guyana, China launches from an island south of the mainland, and India launches from near the southern tip of the subcontinent.
@MrShoorf Says:
What about gators guarding the launchpads? 🧐
@PolarioB Says:
speed boost
@gamingdomination4124 Says:
bro isnt the whole earth moving with velcity ?
@charlieghague Says:
They also want to get as close to the equator as possible for speed. That's why it's not just anywhere on the east coast.
@DOCTORJAN714 Says:
Isn't every point on the planet at that same latitude traveling to the east at the same velocity?
@klivav Says:
Earth is not a spinning ball 😂 And they shoot the rockets in the ocean 🚀
@MichealBrandt-oq4hc Says:
Then why doesn't an airline flight to Europe take just a couple hours?
@Timmmmmayyyyyyy_on_IG Says:
So they can land in the water
@greyman8695 Says:
Isn't everything going to the east ?
@foggy71 Says:
It's also because of the orbit inclination possibilities by launching as close as possible to the equator
@waltissussybakka Says:
Not the rest of your country ☠️
@doggydoggywho Says:
And if anything does happen, it's only Florida, right? I mean who cares.
@Miggeddy Says:
isnt florida a homeless needle place? xD i dont know, but i may heard sth like that on donut operator or was it california? i think murica has more than one place, like that ;p but it might be propaganda videos of china or whatever. nowadays, u never know
@MberEnder Says:
Same reason SpaceX launches from Texas. It's not quite as good as Florida but the land prices in Florida are astronomical (pun intended) nowadays.
@user-vh3rj3dx7x Says:
you must be related to elon musk somehow
@jamesbond-qs2ff Says:
That's the reason Florida is stretching and getting longer, it moves faster than Georgia..
@Elijah629 Says:
its raining in the video
@Gryfang451 Says:
It is also less expensive in fuel to launch closer to the equator.
