The fact is that western Europe and the US Empire has been on a defect rampage non stop. Was never nice. History makes this a fact. Now, the world is being nice, yet the US empire is still on a defect rampage.

I think people are afraid of heavenly ideas. It's so nice it's terrifying. When things are really nice and easy going and you don't really get what you want. It's easy to become hateful and start stirring things up. Why not no repercussions. You've become sick of everything being so nice so you don't care if youre not liked as long as you're getting what you want.

Great Video! One thing I want to mention though: I think Prof. Steven Strogat is wrong about christianity. When you read the bible its not just "turn the other cheek". Jesus didn't "turn the other cheek" when he threw merchants out of the temple. Paul isn't shy to call people out when he thinks their behavior is wrong! Therefore, I feel like the 4 winning qualities apply very well to christian moral!

How do you "literally" watch something? It's hilarious that you think this is educational, yet you state it in such an uneducated way. Using the word "literally" doesn't make you sound more literate, it does the opposite.

What’s really scary is if a theoretical alien race stumbled upon us, they would have to interact once.
@louisifsc Says:
This subject is absolutely fascinating. Several thoughts: - I find it intriguing and would love it if the ideology/biology of being "nice" evolved in the way speculated in the video, but I don’t think we can ever really know. - I think the nice strategy wins over the long term on a population level, but many individuals can still lose more than they win in their single lifetime. - The way the game is setup is extremely oversimplified and presupposes a lot of things, albeit it covers the most common/important outcomes (Symmetric [optimal, suboptimal], Asymmetric [suboptimal]). - The strategies are based on multiple interactions between the same players. It concerns me that in one-off interactions many times you are better off being “mean”. Many times, we interact with people who we will never meet again. - How can we account for scenarios where the payout is arbitrarily disproportionate between the two players, or even for multiple players? - How can we account for the fact that an individual can use different strategies depending on who the other player is? In real life, individuals send and receive signals about their power and influence, which are signs of resources. - I would like to see what the results would be with different rules, such as not assuming that all players start with the same number of points, and player eliminated if doesn’t achieve a minimum number of points per x number of rounds (minimum to stay alive). This minimum to stay alive could also shift over time or another dimension.

What we need to know about ourselves from God's Word and our only hope of being justified before a Holy and righteous God: [WHY WE HAVE NO HOPE IN OURSELVES: Mk. 7:20-23 And he (Jesus) said, That which comes out of the man, that defiles the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things (sins) come from within, and defile the man.] [WHY WE NEED A SAVIOR: Rom. 3:10-28 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things so ever the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his (God's) sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ to all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believes in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Joh. 3:16 For God so loved the world (us), that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Joh. 14:6 Jesus said to him (us), I am the way (salvation), the truth (assurance), and the life (eternal): no man comes to (God) the Father, but by me (God the Son). Rom. 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:]

Two critiques: 1) On the thumbnail, it is written that literally everyone should watch this. However, not more than say, 1% of the population, can understand this ever. 2) The claim that cooperation between USA and SSSR in reducing nuclear weapon stockpiles or even removing it completely, benefits both of them, is I'm afraid, false. I would very love to be wrong, but I think that having nuclear weapons actually prevented them to go into full war many times before. Currently we are so close to the direct armed conflict between Russia and NATO, and in my opinion, only, really only the fact that there are a lot of nuclear weapon on both sides, prevents that to happen. And paradoxically, as dangerous those things are, they seem to be good for all of us.

Let’s not forget that an unknown third party may be the benefactor of your rivalry with another. Whilst collaboration may result in mutual benefit with your rival, the unknown party (or perhaps unknown rival) may actively work against this… The video example demonstrates this: JFK paved the way toward nuclear disarmament… but nuclear weapons was a multi trillion dollar industry… and JFK was ultimately assassinated.

One of the most fascinating youtube videos I've seen this year. This comment is for my 2 friends who are in public policy career path: even though public policy/foreign policy/political science is considered social science, you could still use applied math/game theory/simulation in your research, just as the video has shown. I found that aspect is very intriguing.

''Your best option is always to defect. Now, if your opponent is also rational, they will reach the same conclusion and therefore also defect''. Rational??? Reason or common sense says: I cooperate and get 3 coins, so my counter part should as well and both will be happy. If i don't cooperate and the other one cooperates, i get richer. On the third option, where for some unknown reason the other one does not cooperate, i get nothing. On the fourth option, we both get the minimum. So, we have A: Getting both equally rich, B: Getting richer with a risk, C: Getting nothing, D: We both get the minimum. So....explain please why the rational thing to do is for both to defect instead of cooperating. I will bring you another example: We have the same banker and 2 people standing at the edge of the precipice. If both jump, they get 3 coins and live. If one of them jumps and other doesn't, gets 6 coins and lives and the guy who didn't jump dies. If noone jumps, they both live but getting 1 coin. What's the rational thing to do? They both jump!!!
