Definition of a narcissistic personality is, they can never recognise that they are one, they do not have the ability to experience empathy but can act it out if it makes them look good but ultimately they see it as a weaknesses.
@Funkteon Says:
The podcast discusses a key issue: the expectation that house prices will increase without any renovations. Overpriced residential purchase and rental prices create a domino effect throughout the economy. As housing becomes less affordable, people demand higher wages, prompting employers to raise prices to cover those wages. This cycle leaves people with less disposable income, leading to further wage demands. This issue began in the late nineties with the widespread accessibility of the internet. People started using new real estate websites to shop for houses, which previously required visiting a realtor in person. As realtors saw a surge in prospective buyers from a much wider area, they advised sellers to raise their house prices, perpetuating the cycle. For a perfect example of this phenomenon, look at how prices surged within two years of REA and Domain websites listing house sales in Tasmania around 2001. Tasmanians saw the price of a double-brick, three-bedroom house in a nice neighborhood jump from $200,000 AUD in 2001 to $500,000 by 2005. Retail prices for locally made goods skyrocketed over the same timeframe.

The cost of education is a scam. Home prices are controlled by the banks so their books are in balance. I remember in 1979 interest rates were so high and my parents argued about money all of the time. I think a lot of people in my generation did not want children.

"More than I was making at their age" THIS is part of the problem, this mentality that "well it was X dollars when I was Z years old, therefore...." I bet this guys employees are struggling just like everyone else and him telling them that they are being paid more than he was 20 years ago is fucking worthless

Paris Hilton meme: "Stop being poor". Easy solution.
@billjameson1254 Says:
This got the least focus in the interview's full length, there's nothing more to this topic. While the others were discussing the beauty of numbers and the like, and difficulty of a mind that doesn't see the beauty in the real world and that is a worthy topic, I don't suggest viewing there to get more of this content. The only other person I know who discusses immigration's real effect on wages is MIT Labor Economist David Autor when he was on the Freakonomics Podcast, which you can find online (and get a transcript of.) I backed this up years ago on archive/wayback machine, and suggest reading more of that there. This interview is quite old, mind you, but it still holds up.

@kickblake Says:
The level of the pyramid at which the income is sufficient to pay for a house, a spouse (meaning one person can not work to be with the kids), and 2.1 kids is too goddamn high. That's the problem. How do you fix that? Do you tank the housing market? Do you jack up salaries? I don't know, but the first step is identifying the problem.
@jimcameron9848 Says:
His hair. So full. So rich.
@billgates-qi9st Says:

Dude, porn is the reason why the men has not enslaved the women yet.
@LotusHart01 Says:
People like Tom are seemingly blind to *survivorship bias.* They think that because they succeeded then anyone can if they would simply rinse and repeat what made people like Tom "successful" From my understanding, people like Tom should instead feel grateful that they possess the brain chemistry required to achieve success in a capitalistic economy via working long hours. What happens, I think, is a delusion between their ego and the attributes that effectively underly their success. Then, they take personal credit for things which are otherwise beyond their control. Lastly, they cleverly shame others for not doing what they did as if it were all based on individual will, with little to no consideration for one's environment. I think Tom has only a partial idea of what can lead others to success. This is why I think Tom didn't initially understand Eric's ponzi scheme point.
@OhhhBugger Says:
LOL, men got tired of women demanding they jump in the first place...men want to live their own lives out, not be at the beck and call of women. We already had mothers for that.
@Mr._Anderpson Says:
Women lost their ability to "put a man through his paces" when they took their place as equals in the work & dating markets. Given their promiscuity & track record in regard to fidelity & divorce, they've ceded any imagined authority they once held. Men aren't going to jump through hoops to win the remnants of a half-eaten cheeseburger. What percentage of marriages last as long or longer than a 30-year mortgage? Why should I take that risk when the odds are so poor? The ladies choose the men they call "little boys who won't grow up" because the bad boys give them the tingles. Those guys are swamped with options & have no need to pick just one. The catch is social media has opened the eyes of us, the second-string men who are overlooked for a decade or two. Once we're established, why on Earth would we then wager what we've earned on something as catastrophic as divorce or an unhappy marriage? Once we're not invested in the idea of family, we become notoriously difficult to harness to serve the society or the economy. If I'm not going to be a part of the future through children, it doesn't trouble me if society spirals into madness once I'm gone. Not my circus. Not my monkeys. I no longer care about your society, your economy, your children, or your future. Let it crumble.
@cmac2243 Says:
He’s out of touch, society has already collapsed. My wife and I had to wait until we were 35 to have children, paying off $80,000 in student loan debt. It was totally an economic decision. Jobs are not plentiful and incomes are not high enough to pay for living costs.
@Tracy77751 Says:
Eric is so smart and right about this stuff..!!! 😎❤️❤️❤️
@dimakurguskin4141 Says:
What a good guest you have
@SAUCE-qx9eb Says:
Only fools want children.
@MayaChadalavada-nz7qg Says:
Don't have kids until you can afford the support them in your own especially as a woman. Have only as many as you can afford. Most people don't stay married and or loyal. Make sure you are financially ok on your OWN
@mattjeffs8610 Says:
Eric was dead-on the money about Millennials watching Boomers sh!t on GenXers - and deciding they'll have none of it. As a GenXer - I cheer-on my Millennial friends. They're good people. Wise beyond their years. Tom just couldn't wrap his head around this truth. Advantage: Eric
@user-it9vs3vq2z Says:
These guys are irrational. You can't starve a field with a starving horse. If you have a starving horse you have population pressure. More starving horses won't help you do more work. You have to let the population of horses correct. It's like if you were in the concentration camps. Why don't you revolt if you outnumber the german guards? It's because you can't plow a field with a starving horse. Are you hopeful that more starving people will show up in the future so that you can have a revolt? no because it doesn't matter. You're fucked. You have to be rational. That's what your problem is you. You're ponzi scheming idiots that think like that. Portuguese people don't think like that because they work on the ocean. You can't add people to boat. If you say "we need more people" they'll kick your teeth in because that endangers everyone who works on boats. I have a 2 person kayak and I can't find anyone to come with me even though they say they wanted too. It's because they know they're dead weight and they know I don't want them to put on a dress while I paddle, and sing for them. They're afraid that I'll throw them the f*ck off the boat. They would go if I was the italian dude in venice pushing the gondolas. You're going to spark a very rapid population collapse if you don't cut the balogna. It's easy to stop a population collapse by getting rid of people. Less is more. You're making it worse. You're trying to get people to think the way they're not supposed to think during a recession. Instead of thinking they need to work harder to not get thrown off of the boat you're trying to talk your way out of work.

@LightWthoutTheStatic Says:
From what I'm hearing Tom doesn't like math, and he can't square the math with his beliefs about how he thinks the world 'ought' to work vs how it 'is' working.

@wantavant Says:
The capitalist system is working as intended, stripping every extra dollar you have. The system is so desperate now that they are preying off of the elderly with these reverse mortgages so they can pay just to continue living. this unfortunately takes any chance for the next generation to get ahead with reduced or non-existent inheritances.
