I was watching one video recently. Tesla was catched fire while the people were inside it.The door was locked and noone could open it.The fire fighter was hammering the window to break but he couldn't. It has a huge amount of tech combined with the human physique- the bikes themselves are obviously high tech (everything possible done to reduce weight and air resistance, each day their set up is tweaked to match up the right tires, the best frame, the optimum gear set for the profile, the riders will sometimes have custom parts 3d printed or moulded) during a race they all have HR monitors, and their bikes have power monitors.
And the riders themselves do everything they can to make themselves the most efficient possible- each day's nutrition is planned out with a chef and nutritionist to match the profile of individual race that day, the riders spend time in wind tunnels making their position more aero, everything they do is monitored so they can min/max their performance.
And then in the end it comes down to who can suffer the most up the mountain

What happens to the electric car if...say Russia, takes out our power grid, which (in the US) is old and not good in the first place. Yes, electric cares help the environment, but there are other factors to consider. I think right now you have to recharge them too often, and if you are out in the boonies (in the backroads of Wisconsin for instance) there are no recharging stations. Scary!
