To all the doctor and engineer comments. Even the actual engineers that are immigrants have an overreliance on abstractions (thinking something will work in real life simply because it works in CAD). As well as competence defensiveness e.g., pointing out that a part could fail and them going “well I didn’t design it to fail”. Seen both a million times, also observed by friends of mine who also work with immigrant engineers. Mainly Indians
