I like the analogy of receiving our life from our parents, but eventually *we* must nourish and maintain that life !
Same with the precious divine life of Christ, that was birthed in us. We need to eat the *bread* from heaven daily, to nourish that life within.

I read Mere Christianity long ago, in Italian, obviously, cause it's my language. I have to say I had forgotten this portion, especially the escatological reference. It's more and more apt for our time. And the more time passes by, the more apt it becomes!
