Such bad Bible teaching..if it meant insult Jesus would have said insult…Jesus himself said that he could command legions of angels down to protect him, but instead..why not rather be wronged (1 Corinthians 6:7)

The God of the bible is a God of war. A God of justice. A God of strength. Jesus took a whip to the pharisees. He was NOT a pacifist! Many people believe in a sisified version of Jesus Christ and that is simply not who Christ was.
@mazklassa9338 Says:
The answer to the question called for a distinction between murder and killing. You might get into a fight in which one of you is killed. But there is that fine line called murder where it is premeditated which is the worst sin.

As a 22 year old with a conceal carry, who has within the past year started coming back to Jesus, I often deal with this dilemma in my head. I think you should always try to avoid using lethal force but if there’s someone else coming at me or my family with a gun in the man of the house and I feel a responsibility to protect myself but not even myself, more importantly my family. This is a great question and a great answer. Props

Wrong jesus message is love and forgiveness even after a fight , not justice and hard feelings to another Remember love thy nabour as thyself
@gladiatoranc Says:
Jesus could have used self defence and he didn’t, neither any of his disciples. The argument for self defence here is really weak.
@MariijxanaTV Says:
The Bible says do not murder, it’s misinterpreted in English. You can defend yourself, but minor things should be recognized as such. That is also discernment
@projectdaaltaran Says:
But it is something you should personally consider. Jim Elliot and his fellow missionaries chose not to defned themselves tih lethal force because they knew they would go to heaven but the ppl they were trying to reach would go to hell. God used that sacrifice in incredible ways. Not saying this contradicts what he said. But it is an important thing to consider in certain situations.

His last statment is important. When I was younger, I would talk trash to, and get in fights with bullys and my grandad always grilled me over it. And for a long time it made me mad and I didn't understand why. In my mind they would swing on me first, I was justified. However I was always the instigator even if I didn't swing first. So he know I was technically starting the fights, and because I had a high propensity for violence I usually won. Its not proper self defense when you welcome the confrontation with open arms.

Romans 13:4 - For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
@user-rm2my8ew8h Says:
2 verses from Jesus always confused me. It seemed contradicting. "If you don't have a sword, go buy one" and When jesus told peter, "if you live by the sword, you will die by the sword." I realized that defending yourself and Going around Physically harming other people for no reason are two different things.

@_Stargazer_. Says:
Everyone has their own interpretation of what the bible says. Thats why they start with "i think that verse means this" . Its a failure on gods part on not able to communicate a msg properly and clearly where there is no room for interpretation. And yes , god is with the little G .

"But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases."-Psalms 115:3 "Thus says the Lord, “Heaven is My throne & the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house u could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest? For My hand made all these things, thus all these things came into being,” declares the Lord. But to this one I will look, to him who is humble & contrite of spirit, & who trembles at My word."-Isaiah 66:1‭-‬2 “Behold, I send u out as sheep in the midst of wolves. There4 b wise as serpents & harmless as doves. But beware of men, for they will deliver u up to councils & scourge u in their synagogues. U will b brought b4 governors & kings for My sake, as a testimony to them & to the Gentiles. But when they deliver u up, do not worry about how or what u should speak. For it will b given to u in that hour what u should speak; for it is not u who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in u. Now brother will deliver up brother to death, & a father his child; & children will rise up against parents & cause them to be put to death. And u will b hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will b saved. When they persecute u in this city, flee to another. For assuredly, I say to u, u will not have gone thru the cities of Israel b4 the Son of Man comes. A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for a disciple that he b like his teacher, & a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household! There4 do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not b revealed, & hidden that will not b known. Whatever I tell u in the dark, speak in the light; & what u hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul & body in hell. R not 2 sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not 1 of them falls to the ground apart from ur Father’s will. But the very hairs of ur head r all numbered. Do not fear there4; u r of more value than many sparrows. There4 whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess b4 My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me b4 men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, & a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; & ‘a man’s enemies will b those of his own household.’ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross & follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, & he who loses his life for My sake will find it.”-Matthew 10:16‭-‬39 "And suddenly, 1 of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand & drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, & cut off his ear. But Jesus said to him, “Put ur sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword."-Matthew 26:51‭-‬52 “But I say to u who hear, love ur enemies, do good to those who hate u, bless those who curse u, pray for those who mistreat u. Whoever hits u on the cheek, offer him the other also; & whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold ur shirt from him either. Give to everyone who asks of u, & whoever takes away what is urs, do not demand it back. Treat others the same way u want them to treat u. If u love those who love u, what credit is that to u? For even sinners love those who love them. If u do good to those who do good to u, what credit is that to u? For even sinners do the same. If u lend to those from whom u expect to receive, what credit is that to u? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount. But love ur enemies, & do good, & lend, expecting nothing in return; & ur reward will b great, & u will b sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful & evil men. B merciful, just as ur Father is merciful."-Luke 6:27‭-‬36 "Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, & said to Him, “R U the King of the Jews?” Jesus answered him, “R u speaking for urself about this, or did others tell u this concerning Me?” Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Ur own nation & the chief priests have delivered U to me. What have U done?” Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not b delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.” Pilate there4 said to Him, “R U a king then?” Jesus answered, “U say rightly that I am a King. For this cause I was born, & for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Every1 who is of the truth hears My voice.”-John 18:33‭-‬37 "Bless those who persecute u; bless & do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, & weep with those who weep. B of the same mind toward 1 another. Do not set ur mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not b wise in ur own opinion. Repay no 1 evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on u, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge urselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. There4 “If ur enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing u will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not b overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."-Romans 12:14‭-‬21✝️🛐

God doesn't care about any of that. Or any sins. He only cares if you believe in him and summit to him.
@Papa-dopoulos Says:
That last sentence by Turek is very important. Many choose to counter attack when they could still run. Being attacked doesn’t give you a free pass to just brutalize the person. You are still obligated to prioritize escape first. Especially as a man I struggle with this too - it’s an ego and a pride thing.

Jesus threw out the money changers from the temple. Did they not get harmed being physically thrown from the temple?
@calvinabels4910 Says:
Even marital arts teach that if you can avoid a physical altercation do so by all meens and thats whats telling you how to fight.... Prepared for yes but if you can get away without a fight thats 1st goal talk it out or get away is the 1st part of self defence. God teaches you should protect your life martial arts teach best way is to not fight in the 1st place aggressive when needed

I love how every time Jesus teaches something you find inconvenient it's automatically metaphorical. That lets you think you agree with everything he taught because anything you disagree with is obviously metaphorical....

@brojynks Says:
The "Slap to the cheek" was both physical and as an insult. At the time, Romans thought they were superior to the jews. They would only strike the right as an insult. Because they would use their left hand. Jesus' statement was going as far to say force them to use their right hand to show the Jews were equals to the Romans.
@tylerhall95 Says:
haha here this part about the cheek is a metaphor - this part about the sword... literal. Go get a sword.
@agapitaagape2624 Says:
Jesus didn't told Peter to buy a sword for defense. But to buy a sword to fulfill the prophecy. Luke 22 37It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’ b ; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Isaiah 53:12 Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the plunder with the strong, Because He poured out His life unto death, And was counted with wrongdoers;" He also did not let Peter to use the sword for defense Matthew 26:52 "Put your sword back in its place", Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword".
