If you have any questions on any particular sentences in the essay, I can probably direct you to one of two other C.S. Lewis paragraphs from other essays that explain the concept in more detail.

I liked the original other voice better than this one. Why was the voice changed?

I'm not insulting anyone’s belief as the religion says so (again... therefore, we can't insult anyone “religion.”) But the following isn't any insult, rather what's true—promoting christians' “religion” or christianity through the existence of morality or objective morality... is utterly nonsensical and a kid can say this.

Hi, Im not a Christian but I used to be and when I was I loved reading CS Lewis and I still enjoy these videos. Im curious how you might think Lewis would respond to the Euthyphro dilemma. I know in the Problem of Pain he explicitly says he rejects the idea goodness is defined as what God says is good, but in other places (Im pretty sure in Mere Christianity he lays it out explicitly) he argues that morality is proof for god, since objective values imply objective laws, and god is the law-giver. Do you know how Lewis responds to both/either horn of the Euthyphro dilemma? If Goodness is defined as what God loves/prefers/commands/is in his nature, than theres no non-circular reason to obey god (since obeying god would be good because god commands it). If goodness does not come from God, then the existence of objective moral norms isnt proof for God's existence.

The Poison of Subjectivism ~~~ There is no 'objectivity. Everything that is perceived, and that means EVERYTHING, is perceived from our momentary unique subjective perceptions. Not anything can ever be perceived objectively. There is no such thing! People (Blasphemers) love to blame God for their own ignorance and hatefulness! The real 'poison' is the delusion of 'objectivism!

I love Lewis

Excellent summary. Though I always wonder: self-evident truths seem to emerge at different times in history. Are there any self-evident truths still to come? How could we know? And if so, what misunderstandings will they cancel? Perhaps they will displace older self-evident truths. How could we rule that out?

The inevitable layer of additional meaning you create in making the visual representation is always in harmony with the deepest spirit of Lewis' text. The way you carry signifiers from one text to the next, like with the color coding for types of love, is really brilliant.

Thank you for taking the time to make this! I love these doodles. Lewis is an incredible thinker and his fool-proof reasoning has made me more steadfast in my Christian belief. Cheers!

I cannot say enough about how good these videos are. Not only are they helpful. They’re very artistic and I think CS Luis would be very proud to have watched them.
@davidhawley1132 Says:
I presume the conservative values spoken herein are what Lewis called the Tao, the consensus view that has passed the test of time. OTOH, don't the values of Jesus surpass that, bridging with the coming Kingdom of God the highest ethical values and the bitter realities of the world we live in?
@troygreen8959 Says:
I appreciate you tackling something as deep as this. We are rightly impressed with Lewis' observations, but he often did what people rarely will strive for today. He didn't just learn to know, he learned so he could think.

The grotesque exaggeration of one principle over the others (race, community, etc.) is an important thing to remember.

I love that image, cutting down the tree that the branch he wants to keep is sitting on. It's interesting how the values and virtues come in groups so that they balance each other, such as "love your neighbor more than strangers" with "care for the stranger." Keeping all the old values protects against extremism.

Nothing any adult couldn’t know and easily understand, explain, and come to the same self-evident conclusion. But , as he mentions and illustrates at 7:20 people have lost being human and are insane.

Blame post-Marxist continental philosophers like Foucault for the intellectual promotion of relativism. The irony always is, relativists think their own theories of relativism are objectively true. That's almost the definition of foolishness.

Finally back again, thank you. I was introduced to C.S Lewis by this very lecture and it changed my life.
@christophercarlson8691 Says:

@samuelmatz Says:
Again, you have created a gem. The works of C.S.Lewis beckons us to grow in the knowledge of our faith and be more Christ like.
@briskethitch Says:
I used to always watch your videos but never commented. Just saw you had a recent upload and I need to say this: I have seen nothing like what you do. The amount of work required and knowledge of CS Lewis's writings needed to create these videos is incredible to me. The phrases, sentences, paragraphs, and chapters that I could not understand on my own due to my lack of intelligence, cultural differences, or impatience are explained tremendously by your art/illustrations. Thank you for unlocking some of Lewis's works for me that otherwise I would not have understood as deeply. Lewis's logical romanticism is made more vibrant and sound to me with your videos.
