The car scene still irks me. All they really had to do was show Ethan pick up Jason in his arms, the car hits them both, and they go tumbling over the roof, then the car stops after like 5 feet or so.
It would've made more sense that Jason died from that rather than the car stopping on a dime at the impact and Ethan taking the brunt of it.
Unless Ethan miscalculated and just straight landed on his son's neck, but I don't think thats what they were going for here.

In the original script, Jason died because his father crushed him while jumping on top of him to block the car. They removed it to make the father seem more likable,
