I didn't remember you making this video, but coming back to it from the current date, I feel like you have now crossed the line between type 1 and type 2 clickbait, and not by a small margin.
I recently started to use a video title replacer, mainly because of you and a few other channels. I like your content, but I've grown increasingly annoyed by the aggressive AB-testing for your titles and thumbnails. Often they are wildly different from each other, so much so that when I come across one later, I have to seriously wonder if I have seen that video already. When I can't even recognize if it's talking about the same topic, they can't be that descriptive at all.
It's now also a pain in the ass to search for your past videos. Someone can be like "Hmm, I remember that Veritasium did a good video about the Goldbach conjecture, I should watch that again", but they have to search for a video called "The Obviously True Theorem No One Can Prove". Or the history of Alfred Nobel, aka "The Man Who Fooled The World".

It feels odd to be giving YouTube's predatory algorithm so much benefit for being pro user and artist. It's pro YouTube shareholders first and foremost, and everyone feels that. Their algo demanding you maximize the CRO of your thumbnail to get the most clicks isnt a result of a highly effective algo, its the sign of a lacking algo thats sole goal is maximizing output internally at the maximum amount of pain for users. It's all very interesting, but I think the tone could be different.

When I say 'clickbait', I'm always referring to type 2. I block channels which use type 2 clickbait, I can't stand it. AI is making it worse. Your channel has authenticity, which is fantastic in the ultra-fake social media universe. Don't feel bad about so-called 'type 1 clickbait', that's just a good thumbnail, as long as it's honest.

I clicked on this video because the title seems like being honest about what the video is about.
I'm already tired of BS with a good-sounding title or cover image. If I see that I don't click anymore because I'm 100% sure about that I'll be fooled and I don't like that, so I think that clickbait is a double-edge sword and will lose its effectiveness thanks to how overused it became in the recent years.
