The trick works better in a heavy duty spray bottle. Yes it works better than poison and is environmentally clean. All insects breathe via their skin. The soap water coats their skin and suffocates them with in seconds. Works on all insects

Soapy water kills most insects. Bugs breath through holes all along the exoskeleton essentially, so the water will suffocate them, and the soap just makes it really hard for them to get the water off (something about the surface tension or something). It’s a great method, I use it to take out hives of roaches.

Back in 2015, I tried using Dawn soap with near boiling hot water, twice and they were still moving, and tried going back to their nest.
Raid has the same result. They'll get knocked down, clean their wings and fly off after you.
There's some cheap foam insulating spray I'm gonna have to try I guess next year, cuz once it hardens, we should be able to knock it off the siding, or whatever they land on.

I use a 1/2 gallon pump garden sprayer with a cup dawn and water. Sprays up to 15 feet. Release the pressure when not in use to save the seals and snug up the pump then pump up when needed. Been doing this for years.

I keep a few 5 gallon buckets around my house outside to collect rain water to wash my hands after do car repairs or use the water for cleaning things. I realized the dawn dish soap I use after washing my hands keeps the water from getting infested with bugs.stays clean for a good while....
