i disabled shorts on mobile and i'm slowly limiting youtube itself too... i have this type of autism where i rewatch the same 50 videos over and over and i'm unfortunately so used to it and i hate it!!! why is it so hard to stop!!!

I recently deleted social media from my phone and put it on an ipad so its not as readily available. It also helps because you realize you look like an idiot scrolling tiktok on an ipad so at least for me its made my screen time less for sure.

YouTube shorts is terrible. Long form content is what made YouTube special. Now there's shorts on every social media platform. Even minor players like rumble now has shorts. It's crazy how we went from an hour game play video with basic commentary was entertaining 10 years ago, and now it's hard to get people to watch a video over a minute before there distracted and go to the next thing.
There's basically two types of watchers right now, the people who can sit and watch one thing for multiple hours and people who watch 100+ things every hour.
YouTube creative shorts looked good on the financial papers, but it hurt long form creators, the people who built the platform for over a decade.
