Maybe hackers from before like 2013. Almost all passwords are stored as hashes now. And changing 1 character can create a completely different hash

I got to 'B' by a different route. 'C' and 'D' can see only a brick wall, so they have no information that would let them answer with certainty. 'A' sees one black hat and one white hat, which gives 'A' only a 50/50 guess—not enough to know the answer for certain. So, since 'A,' 'C,' and 'D' couldn’t know their own hat colors with 100% certainty, 'B' was the only viable choice. I didn’t immediately see how 'B' could know their hat color; I got there by process of elimination. If I had spent more time thinking through why 'B' was correct, I probably would’ve worked it out—but I need a little more time to let these puzzles marinate. I’m not that fast.

There are two white hats and two black hats, if A saw that the two people in front of him were wearing white hats he'd know his hat was black, B notices this and concludes that his hat is black.

How did he determine what hat the prisoner behind him had? From the logic, he could only deduct his hat plus see the hat of the person right in front of him

Before I watch the answer. B doesn’t know if his hat is white or black, but he knows C’s hat is white, and A can see both B’s and C’s hat. If B’s hat was white, A would’ve seen both white hats and immediately know that his hat was black. Instead, A remained silent. This led B to realize that A has to be seeing one hat of each color, and thus deduce correctly that his hat is black. B shouts his hat’s color, everyone goes free.

The setup question for this riddle was not sufficient... you have to make the assumption that the prisoners knew they would only be two of each color.

It was B, saying he was wearing a black hat, because he realized that a minute passed and the person behind him didn't say anything. He knows person A him can see both him and person C, and he can see that the person in front of him is wearing a white hat. If he were wearing a white hat, person A would have seen that the two people in front of him were wearing white hats, making it certain he was wearing a black hat, but since person A didn't say anything, that must have meant that his own hat was black.

This is a terrible riddle. The solution doesnt live in the problem. It relies on the subjective decision making in one of the prisoners.

This riddle isn't really solvable because it's based on a false premise, that being that at least 2 of the 4 aren't completely worthless morons. If your riddle's premise isn't based in reality, you need to state that in the riddle. You've got to be the right amount of naive and stupid to come up with that answer.

Or you could just feel how much your head heats up since black absorbs light and white reflects it you can also look up or spit to make a small puddle look down and see your hat color

Ok this is me pausing when you told me: Must be B, so hear me out: A can see two hats right. And he sees one of each color. When he saw two hats of the same color in front of him he could guess with 100% certainty that he has the other color hat. Since he doesnt say this, means to B that his and C's hat must be a different color. Since he can see C's hat, he can guess that he has the other color then C. In this case Black. Now i will unpause and see the explanation. Edit after seeing the explanation: somehow i expected a trick question 😂 but i guess i was right.

B, cuz if A were to see two hats of the same color he would say the opposite, but since he doesn't say anything B can assume his hat is C's opposite color

This doesn't work. Prisoner B is still taking a 50/50 guess on A and D. He can't have certainty beyond that. He doesn't know the answer he is flipping.

What do you mean? You would all be able to see your own hat colour and A would be able to see B and C so the answer should be A. A would be able to see the pattern almost immediately.
