David Cassidy played himself and his twin in a murderous episode of Tales of the Unexpected called Heir Presumptuous in 1983. They didn't get away with it.

Fingerprints from the crime scene may be the key
@ByronGehman Says:
In the US, they'd both be charged and convicted. Happens all the time where different people are charged and convicted for the same murder.
@ApothercyCold Says:
I've always wondered this. If both point to the other, and you can't definitively figure out which one is guilty, what do you do? You can't imprison both. I get that there's more advanced technology now that may be able to differentiate in certain circumstances, but when I was little and started wondering this the tech didn't exist (or I didn't know about it).
I feel like this is probably a universal little thought experiment that everybody has at some point.
@johnmwangi8874 Says:
Fingerprints?
@rusocabron Says:
Well, if It is robbery, let both go BUT if It is murder, send both to prison until they figure out Who made it
@ixelhaine Says:
Also, identical twins still have unique fingerprints.

I have grandsons who are identical twins and I can honestly say, every time I babysit them, they get away with murder. 😂
@MasterReady12 Says:
Only if the person left their fingerprints, which are different in twins.
@raceblade Says:
Short answer, yes if they don't het caught 😂
@alexplorer Says:
You forgot to mention fingerprints.
@abraamsamor7418 Says:
Fingerprints are different. They can still find out that one has the murder weapon.
@rickrhua Says:
Just lock the both of them up :-)
@hershmergersh6733 Says:
This might not be successful if your victim is your twin brother.
@shadowking7638 Says:
trying to tell twins to commit murder is absurd
@skeet7075 Says:
That fit is cool man
@GrimmundusRex Says:
It’s even worse with Conjoined twins/siblings. In the US it’s illegal to punish someone for something another person does, and conjoined twins count as separate people legally. So if one twin does something illegal and the other has nothing to do with it, any sentence levied has to be sufficiently lenient as to not unduly punish the‘innocent’ twin.
@ISTANDWITHMARKCARNEY Says:
I heard that Identical twins dont have the same fingerprint patterns on their fingers
@flambergoog Says:
old school fingerprints can help?
@hannes5437 Says:
Yeah, I'd say they both should get punished
@mgntstr Says:

@PeanutButter-19 Says:
What if it is your twin that you splat?
@sandrajones8245 Says:
So this means identical twins could rape someone and go scott free
@ChakatStormCloud Says:
DID YOU KNOW: identical twins still have different finger-prints, so it's actually pretty easy to tell them apart on a crime scene.
@GABRIELposmanH404 Says:

@dulloddity Says:
This was started at University of Michigan when there was a case in Ann Arbor. It was quite a few years ago. Not sure how the tech has developed since then. At the time I think they were looking at the generic changes that happen when you develop immunity to diseases.
@MalcolmGin Says:
I'm a stem cell transplant recipient. For 5 years (so far), my blood DNA has been identical to my cousin's blood DNA. Now the rest of my DNA evidence is still mine. So maybe they'd think two of us did it?
