It will excite you to clap, laugh, yell, shout... to a level of entertainment.He is waking you up from your slumber of ignorance, fear, non confidence to do your Karma as karma not expecting a reward but in its fullness.
He is not telling you not to break coconut,before driving new car...if that helps you to boost your confidence level... you shall do so,following driving skills, rules, laws and full presence paying attention to what you are doing....
Do not ridicule rituals, Sadguru is not demeaning it, but exhorts you to focus on what you want, you can still do a ritual prior to it.
