Real talk for a second. . . You know what the real solution to something like this is? Autonomous driving shuttles.
Shuttles cost too much per vehicle to run a carpool to work on a shuttle, and buses are too big for most carpools of 3-4 people. . . and bus schedules can take too long with all the stops. Imagine if automated shuttles that carry 10-20 people could replace bus routes. the bus could come every 4 minutes instead of every 20 minutes, and with people request pickup/dropoff . . . There would be fewer stops.
You coule replace the entire Vegas Loop as it stands with 6 autonomous shuttles. You could replace the final rendition with 120 autonomous shuttles. Some might say "That will add traffic" and the loop will remove those cars from the streets.
#1) That is 120 total shuttles across Vegas, that is a nothing burger.
#2) If done well, people will actually use the shuttles and stop driving as much. . . which will actually reduce traffic.
The real question. . . if a company really was on the verge of autonomous RoboVans . . . Would they actually even need to build tunnels?

A bit expensive for a crematorium, isn't it?
@stuboyd1194 Says:
Christ, a flat escalator would be a hell of a lot more efficient and practical. But then Musk wouldn't be able to shove his Teslas on an escalator.
@MrCalindor Says:
I knew for a very long time that it was a complete and utter joke but I only now noticed the actual diameter in meters...3.7... that like what when you get to the lever of the road? 2.5-3m?? I wouldn't feel safe even as a passenger...as a driver? Hell no!
@MH_Bikes Says:
Hes talking about a Katimine high "K Hole," but keeps saying "worm hole."
Elon, grow up.
@robla85g18 Says:
Thank you for covering the fire aspects. This is the bit that terrifies me.
The loops a bad idea sure, but that’s the case with most Elon ideas. The fact that it’s actually a death trap is so much more concerning.
I can’t see any evidence of emergency egress routes with independent air supply like there are in most tunnels post the Mont Blanc fire. In fact the only info I’ve found on fire safety so far is that ventilation fans can suck / push smoke to one end of the tunnel. So I guess that sucks if the smoke is being pushed towards you!
Then you get on to how on earth you attempt to extinguish a battery fire if one starts? 12” diameter tunnels are going to prevent most emergency services getting there. I don’t see any evidence of fire extinguishers, sprinklers or a water main in the tunnel (not that this would help with a lithium fire anyway).
I sincerely hope nobody gets hurt in this tunnel, but I’d bet a fair bit of money it won’t be long till someone does.
@6teeth318-w5k Says:
EU will not certify a tunnel which has so small tollerances.
You need to have space for people to exit the car in the tunnel in an " event " .
And why are all the people in the simulation not carrying anything?
No bags, no phones?
No nothing?
Just emptyhanded people?
@6teeth318-w5k Says:
Why does a car in hyperloop need rear mirrors?
@6teeth318-w5k Says:
Sitting sideways in a car going 150 miles is not a good idea.
You have no chance of holding onto anything, as the forces will prevent you.
Have anuone ever tried sitting sideways driving 150 miles or hour?
Try, it is not a pleasant experience, you are not in control of anything.

I was having an exchange with an Elon fan in the comments of another video. And he legit said that the Vegas Loop was a great success, but that Elon stopped working on the actual Hyperloop because he's too busy. The Musk fans are just willing to accept whatever he ends up delivering as if it what was promised in the first place. 150mph, vs ~40mph. But hey it's awesome guys.
@paulhowell Says:
I'm Cambridgeshire (England), we have a guided bus system, full size buses than run at full speed on a concrete track that looks just like tha, the buses have been modified so they can't come off the track, I don't think the driver even has to touch the wheel. So this hyperloop tunnel tunnel thing could have been made to work, then again using rails is still so much easier.
@rrrosadorr Says:
Yeah "Wormholes"🤣. Here in NYC we call those Subways and they've been around for the past 119 years... This thing is just a Tesla marketing gimmick! 🤣🤣🤣
@ricker76er Says:
I know what will solve the traffic problems. More cars in a congested tunnel. Brilliant. It’s almost as if musk has a vested interest in the auto industry.
@KabelkowyJoe Says:
Question. What if main contractor of this "system" is military? And only reason why it's sownt to public is to prevent anyone to sneak out find out what is actually happening. That would make sense if was connecting in secrecy some governmental agencies? That would make sense logistically if you wanted to prevent anyone from knowing what you are transporting. Speed wasn't your main concern. And fact that wont allow anyone access tunel as easy as it's done in real world. Tunels are wide, easy accessable, everything focused on smooth transition. Otherwise it doesnt make any sense. At all. Just look at the world, how transportation actally looks like in any random city in the world. If i was born yesterday that would impress me. It';s so dumb. Except - if actual contractor of this company is government..?
@KabelkowyJoe Says:
As if Musk never been in Germany, UK never saw Paris, Tokyo, New York. I live in small city ~20,000 people, close to motorway and military airfield. My mom lives in city centre. Distance between my home and her apartament is ~2 miles. Should i make tunel? Do have 2 roads to choose from, not much of traffic, straidtforward. There is shool on way and there is also bus doing circles. Technically i woulnt need car, if you could take bus more often. Saddly there is not much there other than school. Everytime i travel that short distance i feel happy about fact that it's just "transparent" i can do "automatically". Because i do spend lot more time to travel to work every day. But these are..
These are small town boy ideas of 10 years old grown up child. Solution to problems that are already solver in many ways in many cities. Already specially in Europe. In Paris there is almost 2 layer system. One is underground surrounding city. Multi layer. Crossings metro, public transport, trains passing trough cities.
Used to be international driver for while and used to live for some time 1000km away from my normal location. And get used to long time travel, at decent speed via Germany. If i was born yesterday this tunel would get me excited. What know and it's designed differently in every country is how you enter motorway and how you exit. Way they designed "station" makes sense if it was metro, But doesn't makes any sense at all, with cars. It would make sense if that was used to connect two locations of one factory. Would also be logistical challange to make it run smoothly. Wont make any sense to allow public transportation.

Being correct on the science does not excuse one's bigotry. The clip of Michael Douglas's homicidal racist character in "Falling Down" explains a lot. That guy should be no one's hero.
@brennencox516 Says:
Musk is such a genius. I really don't see how anyone can say he isn't such.

@slob5041 Says:
I can tell he’s not a public transport expert because this has multiple obvious points of failure along with basic accessibility problems
@chaoticcatskull Says:
Would be more effective to just build tesla branded trams
@mik99D Says:
At Manchester Piccadilly Station and Manchester Airport they have those mechanical pathways (just like horizontal elevators). That would have been cheaper and safer. Why didn't they just use those? 100x capacity of Tesla cars. No fires, no drivers, electrically powered, can turn it on and off, disabled friendly, safe, cheap, obvious? Oh crap, no pods.
@LWRC Says:
Inside the loop, it is not a vacuum! The power needed to move a vehicle through the air goes up with the cube of the speed!!! And what about breaking?? What happens when the brakes fail at the end of the trip??!!!
@LWRC Says:
This channel should do another video on elon's battery semi and where that has gone??!!!
@1337Frederick Says:
The Las Vegas Loop is probably the best example of what neoliberal "innovation" has to offer. It would be better if we took all these billionaires money, and gave it to government welfare programs, because it would go to far better use.

Elon will have a good time doing "business" here in our country. If it gets too hot there in the US for his loop system, he will find lots of backers here, not because of need or merit but because of how much money under the table our leaders can pocket from him.

Dump the cars and make it a 4 person railed podded flat roller coaster ride and it might be more attractive. Continuous loop of pods that stop for loading then off they go. You know. Like a roller coaster manned by 1 person. lol
@kelimike Says:
If tunnels are better: cheapest solution is simple...
Build a continuous archway cover on the existing road network. Instant tunnels! No digging required! Cover that with wind turbines, and solar panels! Then invent a self-licking icecream cone! Then go back to: solving problems that don't exist...repeat.
@TranspacificaTVC Says:
Tbf 0mph, 5mph and 30mph are all valid for their claim of speed range 'up to 155mph' and accurate to real world experience of the loop I believe.

@libertarianneighbor Says:
Try some physics using the coefficient of friction of the tires and the equation for outward acceleration about a radius. These comparisons with regular roads are apples to oranges. I can drive 110 mph on a 65 mph limited road.
I'm just picking apart your logic. I doubt these Tesla's will be traveling very fast. There's a stop halfway through.
@randyhavard6084 Says:
There is one thing Elon musk is right about he would be fantastic to ride around at 150 mph
