I love this knife. I think of it as a folding Bowie design.
It’s definitely NOT a folding machete. I have one of those, too (the Gerber).

Someone made a model like that where the safety Lock/ blade cover automatically folds into the handle when you fold the blade out and vice versa. Seems like it has potential for your designs
