Correction 11:30 - your speed test was snaps versus zipper, not buttons. Though still slower than zippers. Buttons and snaps are not the same thing as easily seen by how fast you pulled the snaps apart versus actual buttons which you can't do that to without snapping the thread that keeps them on.

The Next Thing YKK will Manufacture Will Be The Products Their Zippers Will Be Used On.

This is a really interesting video. One small accuracy note, for the jacket timing test at 11:20. The jacket has snaps (or more formally press studs), not buttons. Actual buttons would have taken far longer to button and unbutton in this test.

19:50 When crimping the "Slider Body" be very careful. Usually the metal that is used is very brittle and will break like a piece of chalk if bent just a few times. Try to get the bend right on the first try. Adjust very little each time... probably less than 1mm in the end.

A reference to the movie There's Something About Mary would have been hillarious :)

I have a satchel that I really like where the pull came out of one side. I was looking for replacements. Thanks to this explanation I was able to pry the pull open, re-engage it with the teeth, close it up, and get things working again. Honestly, one of the most practical videos I've watched recently.

ABSOLUTELY unrepeatable but it freaked some people out ( not me of course) when those of us old enough went through the Y two K scare when all the computers were going to go berserk New Years Eve 1999 because computer clocks weren’t going to recognize a year starting with 20. Some conspiracy theorists were trying trying to make the connection between our zippers and a world wide apocalypse.
@AflacMan13 Says:
That original Nib & Scoop design is STILL used in zippers today. I can still find clothing, luggage, and handbags with it. :-) It's cheap, sturdy, and efficient.
@dashriprock5720 Says:
